NSU Water Quality Report

I just received our Annual NSU Water Quality Report. Per the e-mail this “annual” report was for 2022. Seems late for an annual issue. What is also interesting is that the data report indicates the sample was taken in early 2020. While the data indicates no unusual quality issues, why would it take 3 years to get an “annual” report? Anyone have any idea why this is?

You are so right. The annual report on the quality of the water we drink it’s always years behind. I’ve often wondered why -also the quality of the water we use and drink is extremely important but most villages I guess are too busy to be concerned about it, this seems like an issue that our local politicians should look into but local politicians don’t seem to do much of anything to help the seniors in the villages.

We were presented the NSCUDD Utilities 2022 Water Quality Report at our last (June) board meeting which we reviewed and asked for some new readings to be included in the next report. The NSCUDD board does try to do our best to have good services provided to our customers. You are always welcome to attend any of our our board meetings held once a month at the Sea Breeze Rec Center.

The report in question is found on page 122 of the agenda packet for our June meeting. Yes, we cover a lot in our meetings.

Only problem with the water issue too much chlorine. Before we installed a whole home filter we cold smell the chlorine when drawing tap water.

I'm in Mallory. The only filter we have is on the fridge. I don't detect any odor of chlorine in the water from any of the water faucets in the house. Could it be different in other villages?

You get what you get. Good news is the water is safe and drinkable (sans chlorine)

Ok, but why the 3 years difference. Water quality tests don’t take more then a month to get results from my experience. Also wondered why there is nothing in the report related to the source of our water. Hard to believe the entire Villages gets water from the same source, thus one would expect variations source to source.

As for the source, the Villages probably does get water from different sources for the different areas but how does that matter? Your report covers the water you receive. I may receive different water but if so then I would receive a different report. If you are interested in the other areas you can check the Utilities section of districtgov.org for the other reports. It may even list the particular aquifer(s) that are being used.

As far as I can tell, drinking water for most if not all residents of The Villages comes from the Florida Aquifer. I could be wrong I guess? The water is chlorinated to disinfect it. A standard procedure. Although your water may come from a different well than mine, the source is the same and so likely is the quality. Your Community Development District tests the water annually.
