I have zero idea how it works, but dang; this family deserves a vacation.

The room is the least of your expenses. Tickets can range from$100-189 per day for one park for one person. For our 2 grandchildren a 4 day multi park pass was $700 in 2021. If you are pass holders ticket can be less but holidays are at the highest cost

This is the most expensive and busy time of the year. Next to impossible to visit on a budget

$700 was for both, but during late summer. Tickets are now based on the day. If you purchase multiple day tickets it still is determined by when you visit the park.

For 4 days for tickets, food, and zero trinkets cost was $1135 just for grands. We are pass holders so our tickets were not a factor. That was without hotel, cost. Mouse house is not cheap if you aren’t a pass holder or Florida resident.

Hotels during Christmas are sold out a year in advance. Even Disney vacation club members rarely can get rooms during Christmas, last minute

A 4 day pass for grandkids are $229 under age of 18 even if their from out of state,
If the grandchildren of the Florida resident are under 18, the grandparents can certainly purchase the discounted tickets for them, as long as they can provide proof of residency. Without park hopper also check for blackout dates like Christmas Day thru New Years.
Being a Florida resident you may get room at 30% off. We did this with our 4 granddaughters a room for them and one for us stayed at All Stars resort.if you have a vehicle a short drive to 192 30 minutes full of affordable sit down restaurants. If you stay on property and choose to drive to the 4 parks parking is complimentary. Each resort has multiple buses to parks and Disney Springs included. Also accommodation for handicap scooters.

People have NO idea what Disney currently costs. I just priced a one day pass, it was close to $500, per person for 1 Fing day...
The pass was $179 plus the park hopper ($150), because the park I wanted to go to was full so the only way to get in is to buy the park hopper, the there was the ride pass, another $150. Soo add it up $179+ $150+ $150=$479...For 1 person for 1 day at Disney. No one, F's you like the mouse. Oh parking is another $30.

You could purchase a 3 day pass but they are only good for 6 month = $79 a day a 4 day pass = $58 a day good for 6 months also.

I don't know how old your grands are but my 10 yr old grandson enjoyed FunSpot in Orlando more. He could ride the rides as many times as he wanted and there weren't very long lines and it is super cheap.

Not sure how you got that. Disney doesn’t charge $150 for park hopping or the “ride pass”. The ride pass (genie+) has never been more than $30. Universal charges over $100 usually. Plus, you are adding park hopping because of poor planning ( your park was sold out) so you can’t really count that as the normal cost to visit for a day. I’m not saying Disney is cheap but it isn’t $500 a day.
To the OP, we often stayed in a townhouse or condo in Windsor Hills. It is very close to the gate and while it isn’t on property, it was actually nice to get away from the stimulation for a swim or nap. It was usually the price of a value resort on property but everyone gets their own room, you have a kitchen, etc. I hope your grands get a nice vacation.

Depending on the time of the year you want to go, tickets range from $109 to $159 per day, for a single park. Christmas break is the $159 per day. Park Hopper passes are more. Until January 9, you will also need a park reservation in addition to your ticket.
If you stay on property, you can use Disney transportation around the property. It's easy and reliable. If you stay on property and decide to drive to a park, there is no parking fee. Good for your last day when you just want to leave after your day at the park instead of going back to your hotel first.

From north end of TV, it takes about an hour to drive to WDW. (We live south of turnpike and it takes 50 minutes). Use your funds to purchase tickets for the parks. You will pay for parking at WDW. Christmas week is one of the busiest times of the year, but holiday decorations are nice. If you are set on staying in the parks for hotel, count on spending extra. Try a hotel near but off Disney property. Probably less $. There are benefits to staying on property such as extended hours. It’s a tough call to choose what you do and what you skip.

There are a lot of moving parts to this. You don’t say how old the grandchildren are or if you will accompany them which can change prices and the need to be there Christmas week. Redweek.com will show you all timeshare rentals in the area so it’s a great reference.
You should also look at mousesavers.com and undercovertourist.com. Talking with a Disney reservation person would also be a good idea as they can lead you to various discounts. There are Disney affiliated hotels near Disney Springs and the new Drury would be one to check. Call now, it’s not too early.
Looking at the Disney website itself for restaurants and menus will give you pricing to be able to plan as those costs can sneak up on you.

Yes, free parking for the stay if staying at a Disney hotel.
My reference to the last day was suggesting they drive that day instead of using park transportation to save time at the end of the day.

I own several Disney timeshares - and we always go for Christmas. The timeshares are usually booked at 11-months - it is the busiest time of the year and very difficult to get rooms. You might be able to book timeshare rooms, but it will be very very expensive - if there are any openings. Your best bet is to just a Disney hotel and buy your tickets from Undercover tourist (to save some money).

I love fun spot. Great if you love go karts. Food is very reasonable. There are two of them in Orlando.

OP isn’t looking to buy a time share, looking for someone who is a DVC member to acquire their points. But thanks for sharing your thoughts.

OP I check with two companies I know that sells points, there are some dates available, around Christmas. Starting at $3,600 and up for 4-5 days
