In previous threads it was stated that "clone" chips used in the mirrors would no longer work with the new gate controls that have been recently installed. I have NO direct knowledge in this matter, so you may want to check to see if this is true. It may explain why you cannot contact the company.

My installed mirror chip works north, central and southern areas with no problem.
Holding your gate guard to the window actually works to at about 12 to 18 inches from sensor.

You can buy the reader/writer to do it yourself on amazon for $24. They include a bunch of sitckers, cards, keychains....
I have one and could do it for you if you'd like to pm me.
They also still work at all the gates.

WOW. Haven't had a mirror sticker thread in a while! When/if they finish changing **ALL** the gates here there is virtually no way in heck the existing cloned stickers will stop working AS LONG AS YOUR STICKER WAS ACTUALLY CLONED FROM YOUR CARD THAT HAS YOUR ASSIGNED NUMBER AND NOT PROGRAMMED WITH SOME RANDOM NUMBER or no number which some "dealers" have been known to do. In order for them to stop working, they would have to replace 130,000 (or whatever number of them exists) existing cards and totally change every gate reader. The readers on the upgraded gates are the same old dirty ones they always were. They are not changing the "TYPE/FORMAT" of card READERS they are just changing the database so any nonexistent numbers in their database will be rejected when used. (EDIT TO ADD: and what difference does THAT even make seeing that all ANYONE has to do is "press the red button!!)

I'd love to see them change all the readers and get rid of all the circa 1990's ones they are using so they can come up with a permanent under hood or on windshield (option) system just like my father's 40 year old condo had for over 20 years. :)

Mine is a Wilshin, which is no longer available. But, this one looks the same. You need to buy the discs separately. Buy the largest discs you can find to get the best reception. Also, it is best to tape the disc on the outside of the mirror housing with waterproof tape, and it helps to use more than one disc.

Since they are currently in the process changing all the ELECTRONICS (EXCEPT THE PADS) with larger storage to hold more photos and the larger card number database at every gate due to the large increase of population they could have changed the readers at the same time for a few hundred bucks each IF they wanted to that would ALSO allow other types of cards such as the ones you could use like a SunPass or EZpass on the widow or under the hood to give folks the ***OPTION*** of using the sticker that can be read at the gates ***IF*** the particular user chose to. They could easily get $10 for each sticker from the user to cover some of the costs. They had been doing that for well over 20 years at my late Father's condo. Of course they only have 4 gates but their population is about 5% of that of The Villages so it is all proportional in the amount of revenue available.

I have about 80+ "custom made" programmable stickers" with extra large circular antennae if any dealer is interested in buying them cheap. These aren't the Amazon tiny keychain stuff or cut up plastic cards. Decided I didn't want to deal with them. Wasn't worth the effort except for personal use for a few friends.

I just use my gate card or press the red button. No extra expense necessary, no modification to my side mirror, no stickers to stick on or peel off (such as if I get a new car and sell the old one). Unlike the Wicked Witch of the West, I won't melt if rain lands on my skin, and my luxury vehicle has water-resistant fabric which is a must for anyone who has to drive themselves to horrible places like public parking lots, where the sun beats down and heats up the inside cabin, thus creating an atmosphere that invites one's back to sweat when sitting against the seat.

I will admit to using the visitors' lane at some gates, and let the attendant open the gate for me. Usually it's because I'm taking a left, and don't want to have to cross over from the right resident lane, into the left visitor lane, to take that left.

I agree with OBB. If one is too crippled, lazy or whatever to roll down the window and stick your arm out, then you shouldn't be driving. It shouldn't be a race to make it through the gate.

I've learn a hard lesson- I will no longer spend money eating out when I can eat at home for less. I'll not pay for concert tickets when I can save that money by simply listening to the radio. I'm going to sell my golf cart- what was I thinking when I could just use my car.

I've learned not to be surprised at some of the responses here. OP asks a simple question and gets judged for wanting to use something that makes his/her life a little simpler.
Why all the judgement? Is somebody causing you harm by using that little sticker? If not, shut up and mind your own business. How much are/were the "condo-fees" at your late Father's condo?

You'd probably lose by a good amount depending on what you consider part of the fees or what he didn't pay for that we do.

Last time I looked which was 5 years ago it was under $3500/yr for him and he lived there for about 22 years. His 2/1 unit wasn't much smaller than our 2/2. Not sure if new owners paid more or the rates are higher now but the fees also included a $200 credit to the local restaurant every 6 months which had a branch in their clubhouse (and had GREAT breakfasts), all lawn mowing, all fire department fees, all trash collection fees, all golf fees (only had 3 courses but all is relative), free cable (but only 60 channels upgrades available) and 200Mbps internet for next to nothing, exterior cleaning and exterior painting. $200 year for full maintenance on ALL appliances (he had a new central air system installed for free about 2mos before he passed). The costs were the same whether it was a 1,2 or 3 b/r unit. Condo Only had 2000 units but it's all relative.

Oh, he got 2 "permanent" tags he could put in the windshield which they charged $25 each for or a free keyfob tag as well as "real" security gates.

Takes 3 seconds to "peel it off", just stick you finger in the side mirror. If the $20 cost once every ???? years when you get a new car is going to break you, you live in the wrong place. If you get a new $25-$???,000 car you should be able to afford $20 for a sticker IF YOU WANT ONE. LOL, really. Is it THAT big of a deal?

It has absolutely nothing to do with being lazy or not wanting to roll down the window. For heaven's sake, some people just like enjoying a little cheap convenience because they can. Besides that, you can't just blow through a gate and have it open. The gate card readers are so old you have to virtually come within a few inches of them and come to a full stop. Probably makes it even safer than using a card.

Why do people pay to have their house cleaned? Lazy? Why do people drive $50,000 cars when they can drive a $15,000 car? Why buy a $400 golf putzer when you can get one for $200? Why get a "designer" dog instead of a rescue? Why get a Rolex when you can get a Timex? Definitely NOT necessary but BECAUSE (generic) YOU CAN.

FOR ME I look at it this way. I don't smoke and I don't drink, I didn't buy a designer home just a little 2/2. I drive a Kia so with the tens of thousands of dollars I have saved and with no smoking or boozing and owning a po' mans home and car I treated myself to a one time purchase of a $20 gimmick to stick in my mirror.
