How do you folks protect your key fob when you're at the pool? Phone and wallet can be locked in the car, but what about the fob? Give me some ideas...waterproof bag you take in the water with you? Swim trunks with a waterproof pocket? Other ways?

I appreciate your feedback.

I never bring the car to the pool; bring the golf cart. I have marine grade seats so they can handle the moisture from the wet bathing suits.

If you have a golf cart, that just requires a key and the key won't be harmed by the water. If you don't have a golf cart, I would not trust a key fob to go in the water, even with water proof protection.

Put it in your beach bag.

I as well bring the golf cart, never the car to the pool. I then toss the key into whatever bag my wife and I bring. I don’t have a wallet so no worry there and my phone either stays on my chair or is dropped in the bag as well. We are right there so don’t worry about anyone going through our stuff.

Vacuum seal it, just like food. 100% waterproof.

Agree 100% some people can’t think out of the box.

Pool safe, on Amazon. Small and simple to use. Locks to pool chair.

Seriously? You're worried about the 70-year-old pool gossip aficionado you were just jabbering with from your floaty, sneaking off to grab your key and steal your car?

I'm a city-born paranoid with a monitored alarm in a neighborhood where there has never been a burglary in 20 years, despite the fact that half the houses are empty 6 months of the year -- but even I don't worry about somebody stealing my car at the pool.

Just put your keys under your towel with your phone and wallet, and try to quit worrying about the crazy stuff you left behind when you retired to the Villages. You're safe! Take normal precautions, but you you are not surrounded by car thieves here -- just your neighbors.

We carry a beach bag with miscellaneous items like sunscreen, a book, a bottle of water. Keys and phone go in there.

Well said. Just toss the smart key in the bottom of your beach bag. What do you do with your phone, which is much more stealable? The Villages pools seldom have many people there unless there is a an aerobics class or a volleyball game. They don’t look like the photos below.

Most cars can be installed or come with an app that will operate your car.

locking things in your car or cart is not the best way to go. Thieves abound, don't kid yourself. Why do you need a wallet at the pool? take your id card, towel, phone, couple of drinks/sandwich in a cooler and you're done. Go home to shower and pick up your wallet then.

In the past 10 years, how many cars were stolen or were broken into at community pools?

You will find products on the internet A problem. You are wet. To use your keys you need to open the waterproof bag.

My wife had her wallet stolen at the Mulberry pool.
Found it in the garbage can minus the money.
So much for friendly villagers.

So glad she found her wallet. Maybe next time she will leave her wallet at home.

Wrong answer.

Maybe next time someone will notice the criminal, call the authorities, and press charges.

How did you determine it was a villager who took the wallet?
