Does anyone have someone around here to do taxes that they like. I have a lot of medical this year, so I want someone to do it. Thanks in advance.

FWIW, I used tax preparers/CPAs for 38 years. 5 years ago I decided to try turbo-tax and I love it. It asks you the same questions that a tax preparer would and is pretty much fool-proof. I spend about the same time doing my taxes as I used to spend gathering the information to take to the accountant, and don't have to make an appointment. Most tax preparers use virtually the same software as turbo-tax, and charge you four to ten times as much or more.

That's what I usually do. But with all the medical I wasn't sure if it would come out the same.

Why not try the free AARP tax preparers first and if you dont like their figures then try a CPA.

I may be wrong but whatever number you come up with for your medical expenses will input the same whether you go to a CPA, the AARP people or use Turbo Tax. It is only a percentage against your AGI . There is not much they can do with it.

I would try Turbo Tax first ($20.00 or there abouts) and then the free AARP people if you don't like the results.

IF medical expense is the only item you are concerned with I would do it with Turbo tax and then if you feel that you need help I would try a CPA. Compaire what you get with the CPA and reconcile the difference.
You can also call the IRS with your questions and if the answeres are that you can deduct then maybe you can do it on your own.
If you are not sure if certain expense are deductible or if you made renovations to your home or car I can see getting some help.
