I saw in the news that New York City is spending $10,000 a month for each illegal immigrant at one shelter. I know that New York City is very expensive but $10,000 per immigrant per month seems crazy! In New York City, the median household income is $67,046. In the Villages in 2019, the median household income was $63,841.

Randall's Island migrant shelter to cost NY taxpayers $20M a month -- or $10G for every migrant: source (https://nypost.com/2023/08/13/randalls-island-migrant-shelter-to-cost-ny-taxpayers-20m-a-month-or-10g-for-every-migrant-source/)

Inefficiency, waste, theft, creative accounting, and exaggeration. Some combination of all six will makes the actual cost unknowable.

No one can line their pockets and their friends pockets with money like New York politicians. They are in the business of theft and quite good at it. Politicians that become rich are crooks.

They are now taking over floyd bennett field. Interesting as last I remember no public transportation so guess they will also get the use of a car to help them get around.

If the median household income is $67,000 a year, wouldn't it be a lot cheaper to give a couple $3000 a month each ($6,000 total for yearly income of $72,000)? New York would save 168,000 a year for every two immigrants! (That is $20,000 a month for a couple times 12 months which is $240,000 minus the $72,000.)

I don't get it. I know that we are a nation of immigrants. All four of my grandparents immigrated (LEGALLY) into this country and received no help from the state or federal government.
When people came here in the past, they had to show that a citizen would be responsible for them or they had the means to take care of themselves. Now we are all being forced to take care of people whether we want to or not. When and why did this happen?

The official motto of the city of Chicago is A city in a garden" everyone who lives there knows the real motto is "Where's Mine"

New York City Medicare retirees are now in court for over a year and a half because the mayor now and the prior mayor are seeking to change the policies and rules regarding New York City retirees and their Medicare plan which was guaranteed to us in our health and welfare benefits for all the years that we worked. The changes the city wants to make naturally are not good financially or medically for the senior retirees. The present mayor says that the city needs to do this to save money, so just another example of illegal aliens, coming FIRST before the hard-working retired seniors in this country. When will they be coming after you to save money?

They got what they asked for. As for the majority of the country we did/do not want all these illegals. For the life of me I can't understand why we are allowing all these illegals to invade our country. Then we give them things/money and don't care what the cost.
What is really going on?

They could send them back to Texas

They came looking for handouts, let them have them is NY’s motto. Hey, that’s almost a quarter million per couple every year. You could buy 5 houses in rural NY for that.

Texas is not a sanctuary state. NYC is a sanctuary city. Sanctimonious sanctuary cites deserve all of the illegals so they might earn their award for years of virtue signaling.

I think a lot of politicians cater to special segments of the population in order to garner votes to stay in their financialy rewarding, cushy positions. And that is, unfortunately to the detriment of hardworking citizen taxpayers, and citizens with bonafide needs!

My understanding is that they are trying to expedite work visas so these people can work.

Poor Texas has had all those people forced on them by the government and almost no financial support; all caused by the poor governing choices made in Washington. You can’t blame them for trying to get everyone to share the burden.

They could send them to states where there is a lot of room, and a lot of need for people who are looking for work. Like South Dakota and Nebraska. Instead, they've sent people to states that pay the highest taxes - a large chunk of which goes to the states that aren't willing to foot the bill for their own state's expenses.

Folks in places like Florida, Mississippi, Alabama, Tennessee, Kentucky - hope they remember this when New York says "y'know what - we're now a POOR state which means WE get the money, instead of giving it to you. Find your subsidies elsewhere."
