Lowes sold us a siding job, brought a contractor along who laid out a plan for our house, so we agreed, 2 weeks later a roofer dropped of 3 day laborers without ladders and tore our house apart, it still sits today, 3 weeks later without siding, trash in the yard, you will not get a pro team as promised, you will not get certified installers as promised, connot get anyone from lowes to look at it, no activity for 2 weeks now.

Did you pay in advance?

Does the roofer have a Florida roofing license? You can check here and file a complaint if they do.

Licensing Portal - License Search (https://www.myfloridalicense.com/wl11.asp?mode=2&search=LicTyp&SID=&brd=&typ=)

I hope you didn't pay in advance, or at least paid with a credit card.

We had one of their subcontractors put in a nice Pella sliding door for us several years ago and they did an excellent job at a very fair price. I guess using them can be hit or miss, but we were very happy with the results at 1/3 the price of the quote we got from Docs Restorations.

Go to Lowes. Stand in the customer service area, speak loudly enough for customers to hear, but not belligerently. Eventually, the manager will take you aside and take care of the situation.

Or go to Lowe's corporate and complain, followed by the BBB, Seniors Against Crime, etc., get their attention.

Good advise. Lowes has to stand behind their subs.

Interesting that the OP hired Lowes, but the contractor is using materials from Home Depot.

Had an experience w/Lowe’s back in MN a few years back. We bought a new washer and dryer from them, paying extra for “delivery and setup”, which they did. Washer was fine, however the dryer “delivery and setup” was lacking. The venting duct was improperly installed, being kinked in a couple of places as well as lacking hose clamps over the pipes which meant that the flexible duct kept sliding off the fitting, and the dryer was not level—so much out of level that the vibration when the machine was running was enough to have it migrate several inches from it’s installed spot on the basement floor. I called them to have them come out and correct things, but was informed that I had paid for delivery and setup only, NOT “installation”, and as such they had no obligation to correct what they did. It was not a deal breaker: a purchase of some new flexible duct, a couple of hose clamps and some time with a level adjusting the screws on the bottom took care of business, but I felt that the difference between “delivery and setup” and “installation” (which was not explained in advance) was a pretty poor business practice.

That would have been the last time I dealt with lowes installing anything.

On the bright side, Lowes is not going to go bankrupt and SHOULD want to rectify this problem. We used them before on tile work and their installer did good work.

But from what others have said they do not seem to want to fix the problems

Does anybody have good results from contractor locator sites like Angi, HomeAdvisor, Thumbtack, Task Rabbit etc.

I have had good and bad experiences with the sublet delivery/installation folks from both Lowe’s and Home Depot over the years. Because of the inconsistencies, I won’t use them anymore - need dependable and reliable installation and work - if there is a problem with their sublet contractors, it’s difficult for them to get involved directly to address issue.

Go online to Lowe's corporate, file a complaint with Lowe's " Customer Cares Dept." They will get in touch with all the contractors and the store manager where you signed up for the work....Hopefully they will get it resolved for you.

Since we pay Lowes or Home Depot and they in turn pay their subs do not understand why it would be that hard to get them to resolve issues?

Call Doc's!! They just did our bathroom conversion, tub to shower. Great work. Reasonable cost. Pleasure to deal with. Estimate, schedule, work is done then inspected by Doc's, then you pay.
They've done several projects for us. Flooring, painting, installs, etc.

Never had a problem with Lowes or Home Depot resolving any issues I had. Forget about going to corporate or reporting them to BBB. This results in more time lost in fixing the issue. Go directly to the store manager (not an assistant mgr) and explain your problem. Show up in person and do not leave until you are certain the issue has been taken care of. Works everytime.

Agreed and only go to corporate if store manager does not fix problem.

Some years ago bought built in microwave unit from Home Depot. Paid for installation and they sent two of the three stooges (Moe was on vacation) to install and they had no clue.

Called the store and they had nobody else to send so took it off the bill and had a local guy put it in. Took him about 15 minutes.

it's always the same story with Lowes and Home Depot. They subcontract the work and then the finger pointing starts and you, as the homeowner is stuck right in the middle. If you have hired either company and have had no issues consider yourself very, very lucky. Most often, it's a huge headache for you.

I have had major jobs done through Lowes twice. I'm done. Problems both times. Since they just hire the job out and take a cut, in the future I will just act as the general contractor.

You really cannot expect Lowes and Home Depot to consistently provide quality work by contractors that they don't personally supervise. The only advantage to using them is that, if a problem occurs, they are large enough to be able to resolve any issues, and to not ignore the customer like some smaller companies do.

I had a poor experience with Lowes installation and called customer cares
Eventually they made it right and compensated me for the inconvenience

Totally agree. Let the store manager handle the large customer service problems, that is their job. Only involve others if you cannot get results because the manager would be contacted by those people anyway to handle it and the manager may be in trouble needlessly.

As a retired contractor. Lowes approached me to do jobs for them. During this conversation I had found that Lowes does not pay average contractor wages. They want to hire the cheapest of the cheap and then charge the homeowners, a regular contractors, wages, pocketing the difference for corporate.
When you hire the cheapest of the cheapest, you will always have problem, and that is what Lowes will always do.
Even most of their products they sell now are far inferior compared to what they were 10 to 15 years ago
Yes, I know times have changed and you pay more money and get less quality and less service no matter where you go to be extreme worse and extreme expensive compared
Old saying, is you get what you paid for

:agree: Supporting the local contractors who charge more, but are mostly local and rely on referrals, etc, is good. No different than going to check out lanes versus self check out. . the sleazes undercut to get the jobs from HD and Lowes, and then ghost the job. .

I did a microwave replacement through Lowes last month, and they were done in 15 minutes, they didn't follow through on leaving the microwave in the garage and i called Lowes, and they returned it the next day. .

but not major installs nor custom work. . get local contractors for that with quotes, and references, and licenses

We are getting a quote from Lowes for this. Mind sharing the name of the installer?

Lowes now runs all of their installations out of corporate in NC. I was having problems even getting a call from the installer of my gutter, so I went to the store to complain, and that is what I was told, and that is why it has become a cluster. They were helpful getting corporate on the line, and I cancelled the service and got my money back.

And then found a local company that did a great job for 1/3 the price.

I will get the quote from Lowes for the shades, but I plan to get at least one more just to level set.

All Big Box Stores installers are mostly sub-par from my experience. Although the man who installed my dishwasher that i bought at Lowes was excellent. I got lucky.

This appeared in my newsfeed. Somehow Lowes installed a washing machine incorrectly and was not responsive in resolving the issue.
