We recently spent a day with Capt. Tom on the Silver River in Ocala near Silver Springs. He uses a pontoon boat. The trip was great. Kids would love it. We will be taking our 6 and 8 year old in April. You can have an optional lunch or dinner prepared (by Capt. Tom) on the water for $14 pp. Rates were reasonable. I highly recommend it.

Clearwater Beach on the Gulf and New Smyrna Beach on the Atlantic are nice for a day trip.

World Woods in Brooksville, a little over an hour drive has 2 beautiful championship golf courses and a great practice facility. They also have a nine hole short practice course. They told me my grand kids could play it.

Have fun.

I hear pontoon boats are a neat way to ride around the lakes and rivers but I have not been on one yet. There's a pontoon boat ride around Lake Weir for 1/2 a day, with a drop off at Gator Joe's for lunch and then return to the dock. I'm gonna try it soon, I'll let you know

Homassassa State park has a boat ride and a show with the manatees. It is approx. 1 hour drive from TV. There is also Universal Studios in Orlando.

Take him to Kennedy Space Center. Most kids love that kind of stuff.

It is much more than it sounds like and a lot more than just gators. And you will see many, many gators.

Dear Mayor:

I'd love to know when you take your trip on Lake Weir, if only to avoid Gator Joe's that day! :duck:

By now you should know not to believe me! :blahblahblah:

See you tomorrow.

A great day trip is the Lowry Zoo in Tampa. It is less than 90 mins away and is a wonderful zoo with the animals in natural enclosures, not cages. Zagat's Travel Guide rates the zoo as the #1 Family Zoo in the country! Along with the animals, there are some rides for the youngsters. Enjoy!
