You heard it here first. All or most residents of Gunner Villas will be moved to the Brownwood Hotel for 5 or six days.
This is not because of any hurricane but because of a issue with sewer piping at the only entrance to the houses in this new, new area. It's my understanding that this will take place around Sept 10th and last until around Sept 16th. Residents will be given one food voucher to use each day.
Never know what may happen in the Villages. Every day is exciting and entertaining. :lipsrsealed:

one food voucher, daily? better eat a lot and get a to-go bag too.
Some street issues in a villa on the north end too. Something else done "on the cheap"

Why would you violate the privacy of these residents and advertise their homes will be empty? How do you benefit?

Why would you violate the privacy of these residents and advertise their homes will be empty? How do you benefit? I guess alerting people that the evicted get to stay at the Developer's Brownwood Hotel and will be given a food voucher is more important than personal safety. I'm a believer! Who cares if you mess up on construction because you are too consumed with meeting a time crunch? Free room and one voucher for food. Don't worry, we got you covered!
The homeowners should be paid for the inconvenience. And, what about pets? Where do they go?

Wow, one meal a day ! Wonder how many our local jail serves ? But seriously, so sorry for those involved. Such an exciting time to be moving into a brand new home, and for many people, even a brand new state. Sure takes the some of the fun away. Hope they just make that old lemonade out of those lemons and have ball at the beautiful hotel and spa !

Latest update that I heard is that current repair work may not necessitate a move. I hope that is the case as some didn't want to move.

I understand what you are saying, but on the other side of that thought, don't you think that most vandals would get their information from LOOKING at the neighborhood and what is happening there, or from information passed by various workmen, or the constant "casing" we all experience with trucks cruising around at 2 a.m., checking out the unpicked up trash, etc. My guess would be, of all the possible options for criminals getting their information, reading talk of the villages would be way down on my list of possibilities. I think this kind of thing gets around so fast, a resident posting such information is not really doing such a horribly shocking thing, and even "benefiting" from giving the criminals, looters, vandals, who ever you meant the information... I doubt it. But, of course you could be correct, maybe this person did post it and gets a share of the "loot" ?

I pray that is one rumor that is TRUE. So disheartening to new residents.

So they might get free hotel stay and 100 dollar meal a day. That’s real tuff. If it was out of bubble would get nothing, Except get out. If it was in non owned developer district would get nothing. IMO above and beyond :BigApplause:

Good to hear ! Also, for those who pointed out that those posting this (possible) event on this sight might just be aligned with criminal types who want to take advantage of the abandoned homes, and intimated the poster may even expect to benefit from making it known that the homes were unoccupied but fully furnished with personal belongings....I expressed I thought that would be the least likely place (TOTV) for criminals to get their information. But perhaps the do look for such postings (entire neighborhood going on a cruise on a certain date ?, I don't know). However, IF these poor folks do have to move to a hotel, I would certainly expect BOTH the county sheriffs deputies and the Villages neighborhood watch to be stepped up SUBSTANTIALLY while the are, IF they are, moved to a hotel.

Some news items/updates are not worth reporting. Unless there is direct input from the responsible party, we are just spreading rumors.
This one already has the Developer being criticized for poor construction and a cheap response.
I recall stories of The Villages response to the Tornado that hit the Villages in 2007. Wasn't so negative as I recall. Perhaps self-serving to keep up an image, but supposedly effective.
