My wife and I are exploring moving to The Villages but are having a challenging time getting clear answers on insurance costs. We've contacted TV insurance and reviewed other threads but there seems to be a very wide range of costs.
We realize there are a lot of variables in insuring a house anywhere, so we are hoping to get some good ballpark numbers before we make an offer. I also realize we would get a firm number once we actual placed an offer on a house, but I would rather build it into our budget before that time.
We would be looking at a new house in one of the newest areas in the $400k range. Let's say 1,500sq ft block and stucco for estimating purposes. Any thoughts as to what that would cost to insure with somewhat normal deductibles. Also, what would flood insurance run and do most people purchase flood insurance even if not in a flood plain?
The answer we have been getting is, "it depends" and could be anywhere from $2k - $10K. Thanks for anyone that could chime in with their experiences as we are excited to move to TV but insurance is such a variable now that we are holding off.
