I just saw that a restaurant has opened in Lake Deaton Plaza called Kumo Sushi and Hibachi. Has anyone tried it and, if so, what did you think?

We have been several times since we live in St Cats. Probably the best sushi in the villages. The big turn off for me is the smell of bleach as you enter. We often go when they just open. I mean, its great that they are cleaning, but they really need to air the room out! Once your food arrives, you no longer notice it, but I find it off putting as I am sitting waiting.

Don't go there it's too crowded and I can't get a table. Wife had hibachi and I had steak teriyaki. We shared a sushi roll. It was all very good and we had enough leftover to make another meal or in my case a midnight snack.

One of our new favorite places.

Love sushi and looking forward to trying it out. Don’t care if it’s crowded because I’m a take out guy for sushi. Kind of off the beaten path for me, but am going to give it a shot next time I’m at the Rohan sports pool swimming laps. Wondering if anyone can give a comparison of the Sushi relative to Sakura, which is my favorite in the Villages.

Better than Sakura imo.

I've never been to this restaurant, but in general most Japanese restaurants are pricier than others.

We have tried it once for dinner. Would go back, but probably for lunch next time. Yes, a bit pricey but not horrible
The salad seemed to be just the bagged salad from the grocery store, but we enjoyed the hibachi steak & scallops.
At that time they didn’t have their liquor license but I understand that they have beer & wine now

We went there yesterday for late lunch. It was good, but we like Sakura better. We like the atmosphere better at Sakura too. We will stick with Sakura.

Have dined at both, prefer Sakura. Sakura sushi is always excellent. Kumo was okay, but I just liked the freshness and flavors better at Sakura. I think the service is better at Sakura, both are close to each other, I will probably not go back to Kumo since Sakura is close by.

When it opened ate there several times. Sushi is excellent. Nice staff. But it’s been crowded so ordered to take out. Probably will continue to do so as season peaks.

We've gone twice and it was good both times, didn't have an issue getting a seat and we were there at lunchtime. I had the teriyaki salmon both times and thought it was reasonably priced at $13.99. I got a big piece of salmon, rice, and vegetables.

Sushi was absolutely delicious; fresh and the presentation was over the top for what I expected!! Staff was very attentive.. Too many tables so it feels a bit cramped however we w go back... 🦋

Hubby and I went with a friend and we all agreed that it was meh. Sakura in Colony is better. None of us had sushi, so can't comment on that.

We did and thought it was good but they do not do the hibachi in the dining area. It is only in the kitchen.

I stopped in and picked up a menu, but didn't eat. I was surprised by the lack of atmosphere, acoustics, and the seating arrangements. It looks more like a fast food place than a Japanese restaurant. I know you can't eat atmosphere, but I think they could have been more creative in the decor or lack of.

I feel the same way about Olive Garden. Smells like v*mit when you walk in due to the tons of fresh grated parmesan cheese they use. Thankfully, it eventually becomes unnoticeable.

Loved it! Had delicious filet and lobster. We like Sakura but like Kumo food a little more.

The comment about the grated cheese smell is exactly the way I feel every time I walk in Red Sauce. There are many wonderful Italian restaurants up north that don't smell like v*mit. As for new Japanese restaurant I would not go unless I saw sushi being made fresh in front of me and hibachi table cooking is a must. Love Sakura in SS but walk out 5 lbs heavier.

It’s excellent! It’s the best Hibachi and Sushi I’ve had in The Villages. Prices are fair but sometimes service is slow when it’s time to pay.

Just had lunch there.
Have to agree with many comments. The place initially has a disinfectant smell but that dissapates quickly. The atmosphere could be better. I didnt appreciate the Japanese rap music coming from the TV. The staff was very friendly and attentive.
I had miso soup, a variety of sushi, and tried a Red Hill Roll tht was a special.
Sakura has better miso soup. The sushi was good but comparable to sakura. The red hill roll..salmon and cucumber with two sauces was excellent.
My wife had filet mignon teriyaki. She has had the same at sakura. The steak was tender but not as flavorful as Sakura.
The prices were reasonable.
Overall, id say its comparable to Sakura and i wouldnt hesitate to go back again and I would not give up Sakura.

Most of the Japanese restaurants in Florida are not Japanese owned so we never expect the best. Like the sushi on cruise ships that the cooks stir over and over again until mushy.
