Newell "Evacuation" Canceled

As a resident of Newell, I was concerned about 2 recent posts on TOTV regarding sewer work requiring the evacuation of all 43 homes in Gunner Villas. The posts had (accurate) detailed information about when these homes were to be empty and what construction was being done. These posts threatened the safety and security of these residents - and they were going through enough. Thanks to the TOTV Team for removing them quickly - and for the overwhelming support you all had in sharing our concerns to the OP.

Yesterday, residents were informed the "evacuation" was unnecessary and the construction was mostly completed without further digging up the street as was originally planned. While there is more to do, it does not require them leaving.

My intent in this posting was to highlight that a whole neighborhood is being asked to move out for a whole week from their new, expensive homes because of a construction issue. I felt pressure should be applied by more than just the affect home owners to resolve the issue quickly and without them having to move. If only one home were involved, I would not have made the post. Security was not on my radar because I believed that the Developer and or District would deal with it. As usual, my posting got misconstrued and went off in another direction. Maybe, my posting helped apply a little pressure but I do truly personally apologize for the worries I created. Maybe even more than the home owners in this neighborhood, I am so happy a good resolution was achieved.

It looks like that is what happened, a way was found to resolve the issue without requiring the homeowners to move out. We'll never know but perhaps your post had something to do with that. Thank you for trying to help (and perhaps succeeding).

The construction concern could have waited until September 18. Safety and security is more important. Thanks for your concern.

They were always working on it - they were able to remedy it. I would like to know HOW.

My guess is do you really think TV, is going to give you insight on why, when or how the decision was made to fix issues with residents in place?

1. Issues were not as complex as first thought. (Maybe)
2. A public post was initiated about residents of neighboring villas, being moved for a week, free of charge, with one food voucher per day to the Brownwood Hotel.

Then due to this public announcement, would it set precedents, for residents down the road, when issues of repairs were needed for any length of time? Then demand to be moved to a hotel. (Maybe)

Either way post or no post, it was resolved without the move, and one will never know reasons
