Hasn't this event always been FREE in the past???? Yes. This year there is a $2 cost per day that gives you access to every act all day long. Come Friday the 29th and stop in to see Maria Williams from 4:15 to 5:15 in the Rhett Butler room. Oldies, Rock & Roll, Country -- you'll get 100% entertainment and more that your $2 worth!! I hope to see you there.

Yes BUT why the $2 charge? The performers aren't paid. The rec center is our rec center operated from amenity fee funding, I believe.

I called the center and the manager told me that last year too many folks showed up who were not Villagers. Somehow charging us $2 a day will help stop this?!? Seems like they can require Village ID to alleviate that issue. Oh, and, charge non-residents if they wish to enter.

Oh, and then I called the Entertainment Department and John Rohan told me they were charging in order to be able to add some "decorations", and increase the "advertising"! I told him that sounds like BS (abbreviated) and he hung up on me.

I hope you will follow up and let us all know about what changes $2 a head provided!

$2 a day for a full day of varied music by some really talented folks? I have never heard of this before but with all due respect my first reaction was one of complete surprise that they HADN'T been charging for it in the past. $2 is nothing. I tip that and more at Starbucks for coffee and a scone.

It has been a great event in the past -- no doubt about it! And I agree $2 is a small price to pay BUT FREE is what it has been since day one. My issue is the reasons given for now charging a fee. How about they start charging Villagers $2 to go to and use our pools -- because too many non-Villagers are using the pools? Or maybe charge at the Squares each evening?

I agree that the excuse that the $2 charge will keep outsiders away is lame in the extreme. However just because it has been free in the past is no guarantee that the event would or should stay that way going forward. We seem to be losing sight of the quality and the uniqueness of this event over a (very) few dollars.

$2 is not bad considerring there is setup and cleaning on the conclusion. Support the vendor's benefits the Buffalo Scholarship Fund

$2 is no big deal. It does make me miss $2 Tuesdays at Church on the Square though.

There has always been setup and cleaning at conclusion -- nothing has changed, so again I question why the charge!? Since the Entertainment Department claims they are charging in order to kick up the event "to the next level", I am hopeful the folks who either attended or performed last year will share their insights on what was different this year!

There is ONE guarantee -- if we don't question why the new fee, it will become permanent whether or not it buys us more quality or uniqueness.

Ukulele and the '60s, they just have to include Tiny Tim's version of Tip toe through the tulips.
