Bosoxfan, thanks. :coolsmiley:

I discovered that if you click on any of the dots or + on the map, it will open a window with interval readings from the last 24 hours. Very cool!

Hey Bosoxfan,

I just want you to know that I have spent way too much time this morning pointing and clicking around on THAT MAP! Way too much. (It’s cold outside.)

I type to you from my sunroom/Florida room/4-season room -- whatever the heck we are supposed to call this room with all the windows so I can be sure to see the SNOW.

So anyway, I was looking at various airports all over the country and I saw the abbreviation BR in Cincinnati and I thought, huh?

And so I hollered to Mr. Boomer who was in the kitchen, “What in the heck does BR mean? Breezy? It cannot mean breezy.”

“It means mist,” he answered.

“What? Mist? BR means mist? What the heck is that about???”

Well, one thing led to another, and the next thing I know a bunch of time had passed with discussions of French involvement somehow and then some stuff about things like METAR and TAF and any number of abbreviations that I really did not need to know about.

That is quite a fascinating map that can lead to such scintillating conversations and also got me all involved in looking up stuff in the glossary that is there at the bottom of the page.

And now, what I need to know from you, Bosoxfan, is when can I expect you to arrive at my house to address all these Christmas cards that are still here on my desk? And, btw, I need for you to pick up a couple more presents on your way.

Oh, and I just got a call from family in SC. We are the stopping point on the way to Michigan and they are trying to figure out the weather. So I said, "I will send you a link to a really cool map. I know my brother-in-law will love it." (Hah! They will get a late start from SC which will give me extra time to get the guest room ready while they are delayed, pointing and clicking on THAT MAP.)

Oh thank you, Bosoxfan,

I am sure that I still will need help on Wednesday. And I am so sure the pilot will be happy to take a detour.

So I will see you at CVG.

And while you are getting the pilot to cooperate, please be sure to ask him if he knows that the Cincinnati International Airport is not in Ohio. It is in Kentucky.

I just know that the pilot will appreciate that helpful reminder.

Glad you told me ..Kentucky sounds better than Ohio to me!!

Kentucky is a beautiful state. I like it, too.

So OK, I will bring my Christmas cards with me to the airport so that you can address them there and not have to cross the river to go into Ohio. (I have always heard that the Ohio River actually belongs to Kentucky around here. But I do not know if that is true.)

And, just so you know, I am trying so hard not to start clicking on THAT MAP again today. I am not even going to look at the first post in this thread -- not for a few days anyway. -- (Yeah. Yeah. That's it. Uh huh. I can do it.)
