Dr. Katy Votava was interviewed by Consuelo Mack for the most recent episode of WealthTrack on PBS. Votava is the author of Making the Most of Medicare: A Guide for Baby Boomers. This was her 9th edition of the book.
You can find the interview on YouTube if you Google. It is less than a half hour long -- and even if you think you already know what you are doing, you just might find some interesting stuff you did not know.
You're welcome. :)

I just now looked this book up on Amazon — I could find only older editions. The new one is 2023, 9th edition.
If you want to buy a digital download, go to goodcare.com which is the author’s site. There is a tab at the top of the page that says Medicare Book.
But further down the page, there is a red tab where you can sign up to be notified when the new printed copy becomes available.
On Amazon, the most recent one in print that I could find was 2020. Don’t buy that one. You need the 9th edition if you want the most current information.
We are still clinging to our Plan F, but every year lately, I have planned to look at Plan G but never get around to it.
I don’t know much about Plan C/ Advantage Plans — but from what I picked up in the short interview on WealthTrack, those plans are not all exactly the same.
Advantage plans are privatized. I think the way they work is the government sends premium money from your SS to the insurance company where costs are handled basically HMO-style. (I think that’s right, but if not, please correct me.)
We boomers have all heard the promises to “save Medicare” — BUT — believe you me — you can bet your sweet 65 year-old bippie that some of those promises mean turning it allllll over to private insurance companies. Be careful what you wish for. The insurance company lobbyists are slobbering all over that idea. Don’t forget, the insurance industry’s first loyalty is to the stockholders.
But, for now, we still have choices and have to figure out which one works best for ourselves. (At least we are not on the “Put ‘em Out There on the Ice Floes Plan” — yet.
Anyway, if interested, for now, just go to goodcare.com and decide if you want to own this book and in what format.
