Who upgrades a computer, apple

Hi,
I have an older apple with a 25 inch screen, do you now of anyone who could upgrade the memory etc.....thanks,

There is an apple club, I would check there. I have not used an apple computer since the original ones in the 70's, so I have no idea of what would be involved.
One other thought, you might try an internet search like you tube to at least get some basic info.

It depends on the age of the machine... I did it myself on older machines, but it's more difficult on the newer ones...

iMacs have been around for 25 years... There's older and then there's OLDER...

If your computer is older than 2019 it is not cost effective to upgrade or make any changes.
A new laptop from Apple can be as low as $999.00. A new 24" desktop is as low as $1299.00 from Apple.
There are sales online of new Apple computers from some online stores.
Your current Apple computer will continue to run all your existing programs and do everything you are doing now for many years but if you are looking to upgrade look to a new machine. Apple is likely to announce new desktops this month and many online stores will have sales.

I upgraded memory in my 2011 iMac. Simple as opening the compartment and plugging in the memory. I did end up buying a new Mac mini when the operating system could no longer be upgraded and hence may app upgrades no longer compatible. But that old iMac is sitting in my closet and will run as good as when I bought it.

I could not find anyone that would do it, they said it required removing the screen because mine did not have the door to the memory on the back. Also Apple would not do operating systems updates anymore. So I got a new mini with the most memory available. The only problem was Apple wanted 3 times the cost of the mini for their monitor. I did some research and found out they had been using a Dell monitor before theirs came out. So I ordered a 27 inch Dell for less that half the price of the mini. The only cons about doing this is there is no camera and the sound in both the mini and monitor suck, solved that with a $15 speaker set.

While I was able to upgrade my iMac 21 inch screen (not sure why yours was different), I had the exact same experience. Every point you made, bought mac mini and the Dell monitor, needed speakers and a camera (I haven't gotten the camera, don't want you all watching me). :)

It’s incredibly easy to upgrade the memory on older iMacs.

Swapping out the HD for a SSD will also speed things up tremendously and make it feel like a new machine. That’s a little more involved, but still not that difficult.

I convert old PCs to Linux Mint. Makes the PC feel like new. Linux can do most of the functions a Windows machine can, but with different software (IE GIMP vs ADOBE).
