I am moving to TV the end of Jan and would like some advice/insight to the advantages and disadvantages of going with comcast cable or getting a sateliite dish and a separate cable service for the internet. The second is a cheaper option, but sometimes cheaper isn't always better. Thanks

I've been all over this same issue myself. I think we're probably going to go with Comcast because our yard isn't big enough to take any space for a dish, even though it is small. We're also familiar with Comcast since we had it in VA.

If you like a land line and want fast internet service then the Comcast package of TV/phone/Internet is good deal it is what we have. As for cable choice it seems to me that by the time I get the sports package and particular programs I want that cable and dish cost about the same. We watch most of our movies using Netflix CDs and Netflix wireless.

I've had Comcast TV and internet for the past year and have been very disappointed with their customer service and billing. I've tried to add outlets on my own and they came out and cut my cables. I've had to change out their DVR because it was faulty and they tried to charge me for a service call. I tried to change services and my bill was screwed up for 3 months. They deducted amounts from my credit card that didn't match my written bills. They changed settings on my cable modem that prevented me from sending emails and then denied doing so and told me to call Microsoft for a resolution. Days later I get an email from Comcast stating that they had in fact changed my settings.

I changed my TV service this month to DirecTV and couldn't be happier. Picture quality is better, DVR is much more advanced (100 hours HD) and I get more channels. Will probably switch internet to CenturyLink soon since they are partnered with DirecTV.

Phone service is separate cell plan.

I started with ClearLink in 2001 when I moved to TV and was switched to Comcast when they took over ClearLink. I have never had a problem. When I want a new DVR or modem I take the old one down to the local office at the Spruce Creek mall on 27/441 and trade it it and get a new one. No service call. No problem.

Logdog - sorry to hear about your problems - sounds like the service we had from Brighthouse when we were in Sarasota. FYI, when we first moved here we had the Century Link "consistent" internet service service - consistently slow that is. I'm not knocking the company, just letting you know the internet speed will be slower than Comcast.

Has anybody used the 3G/4G internet stuff that all the cell phone companies are offering? It seems that the possibility of taking the service wherever we are is a great advantage ofer the other internet providers
