Hi does anyone have and use the Schlage encode smart. If you do, do have you had any issues with it ? I am on my second one in about 3 years. I go to change the batteries it stops working. It does not power up. Yes the batteries are in the correct direction they are all new tried a second set of new batteries. Tested all of them with a tester and reading full voltage. Locksmith I have spoken too and read online have not had the issue I am experiencing

Most of these door locks have the ability to "jump start" them with a 9v battery by holding it to external contacts. I had trouble with a different brand of smart lock and that solved the problem for me.

I can think of 2 possibilities, ours (similar model) had a small wire going from the front part to the back part, it is very easy for the wire to get pulled out of the connector, or for one of these wires to break. The other one is that the inside LOCK function was accidently activated.

I checked the wire connection from the keypad to the battery supply. The one response said 9 volt to jump start I believe that is for a Yale lock The Schlage encode use 4 AA It was working fine until I change the batteries

I had a model that with any part of the cover off, it would stop due to an interlock sensor. This is a feature to prevent tampering. Also had a lever to lock batteries in place. If not in correct position, power is OFF. Good luck.

No problems here. Have you called support? I had a problem with 1 lock and called support, after trying different things, they sent me a new piece, worked fine after that

No problems with ours, but I agree with the post about cover being off.
We had a similar issue with a remote. The cover was ill fitting, the batteries would pop out 'ever so slightly' rendering it useless.
We called ROKU and they admitted that there was a bad batch of ROKU Ultra remotes and sent us a new one.
Not the same, but we couldn't see that the batteries kept popping out with usage.
Hope this helps.

We have had many of these for a number of years and have only had a problem with one of them - similar to the above, we called Schlage and after unsuccessful troubleshooting they sent us a new one at no charge. I also recommend calling them.

No problem with both of ours. Refer back to the Tinkers suggestion regarding the “lock” function. Also read the Schlage literature and you might check YouTube (great source of info!).

You must use alkaline batteries and not lithium

Schrade told me not use Energizer Max lithium batteries. I don't know ow if that is your issue. They ended up sending me a newer version, as they were out of the out-dated model. The new version is working great.

I did with my 1st one & it gave me fits so I called Schrade & complained they tried to walk me thru my problem but ended up sending me a new one FREE of charge. It so far has worked just fine for almost 5 yrs. So to answer your question, no problems or issues. I know how you feel when you pay $100+ for some protection you expect it to work. This last one I got was the only Schlage that you got with a key in case your battery goes bad. I suggest you call Schlage for help!

Send me an email at batyd@comcast.net. My son is a senior lock engineer at Schlage. I will see if he can help or get you to tech support.

I've had one for over 6 months, and I love it. No problems so far.

I had Schlage locks on two of my doors. Never got them to work right. This time I bought Kwikset Powerbolt2. I have one on my front door and it’s easy to install and easy to use. I just watched a YouTube video with my neighbor who helped install the first one. I purchased mine on Amazon.

I did install alkaline batteries, Duracell and did put them in correctly I did call Schlage and did get someone who seem more knowledgeable compared to past call center reps. She did not mention directly that they had issues with the lock but did say areas with high humidity, salt air etc. can cause condensation inside the lock warm humid air outside and dry cold air on the inside. Supposedly the newer models have improvement so I am getting a replacement direct from the factory with all the latest upgrades.
I'll have to see when I get the lock
