Salvation Army Red Kettles

This is my second year of volunteering as a bell ringer for Salvation Army. It is amazing how generous that Villagers are this time of year. At the end of the day, the red kettle is pretty much filled to the brim with paper money contributions. It is really wonderful to see this Christmas spirit and people who are blessed willing to give to those less fortunate.

I will be at Wal-Mart on 466 on Tuesday from 10 am until 12 noon. Try to stop by the main entrance (not the food entrance), say, "Hi and Merry Christmas", and feel free to drop in a few dollars.:beer3:

Thanks for volunteering. I can't pass one without putting something in it--if I don't have my purse, my husband starts taking out his wallet as soon as he hears the bell ringing. I honestly think that the Village residents are wonderful generous people who volunteer their time, donate their money and do anything they can to help others.

My wife's hula dance troupe staffed the kettle at the food entrance at WalMart on 466 last Friday all day. I'm sure that the ladies (and me) collected well over a thousand dollars during this time.

People are amazingly generous this time of year. It leaves one with a sense of what is the true meaning of this season. This was our first time volunteering for the kettle duty, but we will certainly do it again next Christmas. What a rewarding experience!

Good for you Tbugs, well done! The Salvation Army is one of my favourite charities. I think they do such good work. It always gives me a good feeling to put money in a red kettle. The volunteers are always so pleasant.

They are charity that received high marks and deserve support year 'round.
Hopefully more and more (including yours) will take plastic.
While this might seem like a less traditional concept and method of donating, it's working for the SA:

Why it's an upgrade: Previously, Salvation Army kettles were a cache for whatever spare change happened to be sitting in your pocket. Now, thanks to credit card readers, the average donation amount has significantly gone up, from $2 to $15 this year. The rise in donations goes to show that cashless kettles are a very good business strategy
