Having recently purchased a house here, I would love to furnish it without spending fantastic sums of money.
Is there a high-quality outlet store for furniture or second hand shop with good stuff?
Thanks for any recommendations.

My wife recommends: Almost Perfect (route 441 north of 42 on the south bound lanes), Bargains and treasures (466 across from Walmart).

If you're looking for vintage stuff, you could try Wildwood Antique Mall. A lot of their stuff is expensive because it's antique but you could pick up some awesome room accessories like lamps, ottomans, lace table runners, etc there.

Bargains and Treasures is good. Almost Perfect is too expensive.

Almost perfect
Funny, we sold Almost Perfect a metal outdoor coffee table for $75.00.
A few weeks later, we went to the store and saw the table we sold them, listed for $475.00....some markup !

I went there once and saw some used dining chairs for $90 each. I had recently purchased the exact same chairs, brand new for $75 each.

Bought a bunch of stuff at almost perfect when we moved in and wife very happy with purchases.
Do need to understand pricing of what you buy.

What store? Did they come and get it? Labor and overhead costs.

Antique is over priced and over rated.

I wouldn't pay $475 for any coffee table, new or used, even it is was almost perfect.

I know that such things happen. Unfortunately, I am not savvy enough to know what constitutes a “good price.”
Thanks for the many responses!!

Kent furniture in Belleview, Badcock in Wildwood ( not the one in Fruitland Park), Babettes in Leesburg ( there are several stores in that area of 441). DO NOT go to City furniture. Also, check estate sales in the Daily Sun.

Look at the lestings on EstateSales.net. You can get some great deals on furniture and fittings by joing the "thrill of the hunt" seekers at these sales. It takes some time and committment, but if you're not in a hurry to fill the house, it's a fabulous way to meet folks, get decorating ideas and find great bargains! Welcome to the neighborhood.

One commenter suggested newly purchased upholstered items & mattresses & I agree. I was recently in one of the used stores frequently suggested in this thread & in the area of couches & upholstered chairs there was a definite musty smell. Now it is likely only a few of the items had the problem & were spreading the smell throughout the room, but I would be reluctant to choose one, in case I got one of the stinkers. (Also, they do not accept any returns). Perhaps someone with a better nose than me can detect the offenders, but I would not trust myself to realize it until it was too late.

Almost Perfect Furniture has extremely high prices on used furniture. I've been three times and left disgusted each time. Didn't expect a bargain, but also didn't expect sticker shock.

I/we agree with Almost Perfect located on southbound side of 441 just north of 42 and 441 intersection. They have a large inventory and turn things over frequently (sell a lot). They buy up high quality furniture, framed pictures, etc., from estate sales so you are able to often find matched sets e.g. bedroom sets, tables with matching chairs, etc. They also seem to have a constant supply of leather recliners. We found them to be a bit pricey but they are willing to negotiate when buying sets, combinations of things. They know what they paid for things and are willing to come down a bit from their list prices. We bought A LOT of very nice furniture, chairs, pictures from them over a period of several months. They also can let you know if/when they get certain items in if you are are looking for specific things. Great place.

Anyone know of a place that will take away 8 year old furniture that is in good shape and not charge us anything? We will be buying new family room furniture fairly soon and want to give away the old stuff.

We have an extensive amount of furniture in both homes purchased on CraigsList. It takes some time and effort, but you can find bargains way better than any store. People do list junk, but everything we have purchased is in near perfect to perfect condition. You might be able to find stuff on Nextdoor too. I have even seen items listed on Talk of the Villages.

Check out Hospice Hope Chest on Donnelly Street in Mt. Dora. They have gently used items at great prices (they are non-profit) and all sales benefit Cornerstone Hospice. Their driver is in The Villages a few times a week, so you may be able to arrange delivery. Lastly, if anyone reading this has any gently used items to donate, please consider this worthy cause.

If you are looking for high quality furniture, go to Carriage Trade @ 2005 E. Silver Springs Blvd in Ocala. They deal in both new and consignment furniture. Reasonable delivery charges to TV.
If you have your eye on brand new furniture, check the price at Colemanfurniture.com. I saved $1,000 on a brand new reclining sofa set. Their prices include shipping and they guarantee perfect condition on arrival.

We preferred Bargains and Treasures although it is much smaller than Almost Perfect. But keep in mind both trade in furniture people brought down from up North that didnt work here. We bought most of our furniture new from Babettes.

Go to Bargains and Treasures and if you like something, pull the tag and bring it to the counter. Then you can continue to look around and if you change your mind, let them know. Go every day early!

We bought all our Village’s furnishings eight years ago at two stores, Almost Perfect, and City Furniture. We got some great lightly used furniture at very reasonable prices from Almost Perfect. The new furniture we bought from $hitty Furniture turned out to be absolute crap that didn’t hold up to light use. The furniture seemed reasonably priced for new furniture but wound up not being a bargain at all, and their customer service gets an F-

Yes but……you can easily get a significant discount by simply asking for it if the furniture is used.

I absolutely love Carriage Trade! We outfitted our place several years ago with some nice, high-end pieces and we get lots of compliments. The prices are decent and they are great people to deal with!
