My wife and I just starting square dancing this year, and we’ve gotten completely hooked. Our favorite caller is Dave Vieira who calls at Burnsed rec every Tuesday at 7pm. There are other very good callers in the Villages. What I like about Dave is that his calls are crystal clear(among other things). My hearing isn’t 20-20, and I appreciate when the caller focuses on pronouncing clearly and loudly.

Dave was born in MA although he spent most of his career in Texas and now lives in Ocala. He has been calling for many years and has too many awards and honors to list here, but he’s one of only 23 callers that are in the Texas callers hall of fame. You can read more about him here, if you want.

He’s starting a new class on Tuesday, Nov. 7, 2023, 7pm at Burnsed recreation center, which is on Morse blvd. If you are travelling south on Morse blvd it is three round-abouts past route 466a.

There is no previous experience necessary. The first class on Nov 7 is free, after that it’s $6 per person. Open to all villagers (you’ll need a Village ID).

There are other square dance groups in the area, if you belong to one, feel free to post in this thread about yours.

One time bump here to remind everyone that the beginner’s square dancing class starts tomorrow (Tuesday) night 7pm at the Burnsed recreation center. I have found that it’s a great way to get exercise plus socialize with new friends in a relaxed fun-filled atmosphere.

Thanks for listening.
