The problem is WARMING of the water is taking the coral organisms outside of their LIVABLE range in most parts of the world. The coral is dying from HEAT and the BLEACHING effect of excessive CO2 in the ocean water. Dead coral gets taken over by sea urchins and stops supporting tiny fish that bigger fish need to eat. So, this affects commercial fishing by humans. I also know that China has massive fishing fleets that prowl the coral reefs and other ocean areas all around the globe. The Chinese fishing fleet destroys anything in its path and freezes all fish caught in its massive nets for the purpose of feeding Chinas huge population back home.
......The basic coral reef destruction problem goes back to the BASIC problem of HEATING up of planet EARTH - aka Gobal Warming.
