A crack in stucco entrance ceiling

I have a crack in stucco entrance ceiling as you can see in the attached below. I was thinking of just using a caulk gun but it's a bit bigger than I thought when I got to it closer.
My question is whom can I hire to do fix this, Masonry/stucco specialist, handy man or some other contractor? If you went through this kind of repair, I would appreciate if you can share your experience and cost.

Get stucco repair patch and screening. It looks bulged out? If you can glue under it and push it back so it’s some what flush. Then you use the stucco patch to cover up. Rhen paint over it.


While I was up there I’d also look for signs of water leaking? Something caused it to bulge out. Hopefully it just came unstuck and no signs of water? Not uncommon for cracks due to house setting. Why you need stucco repair kit.

It looks like you have a poured-in-place concrete house with a textured cement finish. It is not really stucco. The entrance ceiling is made of drywall, with a similar textured finish. I think what you need is a drywall contractor, not a stucco contractor, to repair the ceiling. Here are some suggestions.

Call the warranty dept, they will have the company on file that did the work. Give them a call, might be worth the time.

At our 8yo old house our our outdoor hanging light at front entrance came crashing down. The original company brought out the same light, repaired the damaged ceiling and reinstalled the light. It was about half of the other estimates.

My villa is 20 years old. Do u think they still have the record?

I would be very concerned that a structural problem is the point of origin! Look around your home for other signs of structural failure ..

Yes they should still have the original everything, however if you are not the original owner, things could have been changed or replaced, and Warranty will not have that info.

I would look around the house for other cracks or signs of settlement. Also, look for evidence of a possible roof leak above the entrance area and the gutter. But, to me, it looks like you just need a minor cosmetic repair to the exterior drywall or cement board. I would start with drywall contractors, and get a few competitive quotes. The sooner you get it repaired the less chance you have of developing mold above the ceiling. Good luck.

Very very low probability that it is a structural problem.
