In an amazing display of lack of awareness of what is happening in the world today, General James Clapper, the Director of National Intelligence, had no idea what Diane Sawyer of ABC asked him about the recent terrorism arrests in London. He finally answered with a question, “London?”
It was not a momentary mental slip because when asked in a clarifying question by Diane Sawyer, “I was a little surprised you didn’t know about London.” General James answered by saying, “Oh, I’m sorry, I didn’t.” It is unbelievable that the Director of National Intelligence was totally ignorant of a terrorism incident that had been all over the television news and on the front page of the country’s papers.
A few moments later in an attempt to ‘clarify’ things, Janet Napolitano, the Director of Homeland Security, said that Homeland Security was on the job 364 days a year. Shades of 57 states.
Is there something in the water of our nation’s capitol that makes people stupid?
