Hello. Our son, his wife and their two boys will be visiting from Dec. 27 to January 4. Since one of our grandsons is terribly allergic to cats, and we have one, they can't stay with us. So, we are looking for a home in or close to Marsh Bend to rent. Please let us know if you have one or know of someone who does. Thank you.

Thank you.I never had an investment property but I lived on a street with many. I think you may be looking too late. Most homes have been rented out for the season. You can look at the website Villagers homes 4 rent. This site lists over 1000 rental homes in the Villages. You may find a home that is still available. Good Luck! Merry Christmas!

Bad time to be looking for a limited period in peak season.
I would suggest a hotel, but holiday time may even find that difficult.
How about putting cat in Cattery for a week or so?

There are several hotels in the area that may have reservations for that time period. Good luck with your search.

Might be cheaper (this time of year) to utilize a hotel. Maybe one that's a suite. End of Nov. for a Dec. rental is cutting it pretty close and maybe too late....plus the premium rental fees this time of year.

Won’t you and spouse have cat dander on your clothes; and irritate your grandson when you are together? So your grandson won’t have the best experience being near grandparents?
Is the cat really worth it?

Over the past two years rentals have exploded in the Villages. Seems as though everyone has put their home up for rental. You should not have any problem finding a home. Out of curiosity I put the dates of December 15th to Jan 1st, on one rental site alone, there were 547 available rentals.

You must not be an animal lover. Any pet gives more pleasure than you could know

I actually have 3 dogs, had multiple dogs for 30 years.
So pets provide more pleasure than grandkids?

Yes, pets are all the time, grandkids for a few days.

Hi, we have a house for rent in Marsh Bend that is available that week. I sent you a private message with our phone number.

Of course, they are not going to get rid of their cat for visitors. Really, they couldn't even board the cat for the week because the dander is all over the house. I am severely allergic to cats, so I know from experience.

You might want to join these Facebook groups. Renting in The Villages, Vacation Rentals in The Villages, Rent From a Villager. Some of them are public groups so be careful of scammers.

Wouldn’t it be cheaper and more convenient to board cat and clean house?

What an awful, insensitive comment about someone’s pet.

So if your grandkids were allergic to dogs, would the dogs then be worth it. There are other solutions than the “worth it” suggestion.

I love it when someone asks a simple question (in this case, if anyone has a rental for a week) and people just can't help themselves and have to jump in with judgmental opinions that are of ZERO help to the OP...

We've used **** for years to find places for 10 - 12 days in TV, all with success

Not being mean here, I also have a cat, but wouldn’t it be less expensive to board the cat, and deep clean the house so you can enjoy the company of your family for the week. If your grandson visits you he will have the same allergic reactions and the cat might not enjoy being locked up for the day they visit you.
You never know the cat may enjoy being on a vacation from everything.

Pet or person? Which wins? Put the cat at the kennel! It WILL NOT know the difference next week.

Of course the cat is worth it. It is part of the family. You don’t get rid of a pet any more than you would get rid of the grandson if the cat was allergic to him.

Why are we asking for a place to stay inside TV when there are complaints about young child in the rentals. Are kids allowed in the rentals or not ?

Well because cat dander is hard to get rid of and he had a rough time when he visited us in Colorado, his parents thought getting a place was best. We actually had the cat prior to knowing about any allergies.

Of course kids are allowed in the rentals.
Kids are allowed in any home.
Kids younger than 19 are limited to a 90 day visit in a Village home.
But -- Its not enforced.
