We have a Courtyard villa in Marsh Bend. Outside the Lanai is a 8x16 concrete pad. Looking for a company to extend the concrete and put a bird cage over the whole thing. Thoughts?

First, check your restrictions on the lot, and get ARC approval. Unfortunately, the company we used for our project moved out of the area, so I cannot make any recommendations.
Other items to consider: you may need to move irrigation lines, you are not allowed to have live water lines under a concrete slab. You should include electrical outlets inside the bird cage to avoid having extension cords across the floor. We found after the fact that water became trapped inside the birdcage, tried having drains installed these kind of worked. I finally spent some quality time and installed 1/16-inch aluminum shims along 2 walls of the bird cage, and this seems to be working very well. We also had 50% sun reduction screening installed in the roof area of the bird cage to provide some protection from the sun. If you decide to have the concrete finished, make sure you get a NON-SLIP finish, we had ours stained with shark grip in the finial coating.
Feel free to send me a PM if you would like to discuss further.

Yep....Spoke with officials and ARC should not be a problem. Did the electrical stub-out and insulation of lanai work last year. Fortunately the Irrigation lines and drain were already in the correct spot. Now just need a builder

We used U.S. Aluminum. I DO NOT recommend. I don't want to go into the details because they would recognize me from my complaints and I am still under warranty, so I don't want retaliation from them.

All Around Aluminum did a great job for us and several friends.

Good advise as always from Villagetinker.
We also installed Screen Room Drains and a Billybib too make it easy to wash things down and we have a SPA.

I added my birdcage earlier this year - something to ask (that I didn’t do at that time), is how much of the work will be sub-leted. The concrete work was “subbed” out, they broke irrigation pipes twice while digging (the person doing the digging was a teenage boy who spoke no English, working for his dad, who wasn’t present when he struck my pipe.) Everything eventually got fixed, but it was a big hassle. Also, the irrigation work was “subbed” out, and I had a few issues with those sub-contractors. Overall, I’m happy with my finished product, but would use a different contractor had I known about the “sub” work. A good thing the contractor did, was he filed the ARC paperwork for me, and attended the ARC approval hearing.

Brian Terry Vinyl…great work. Doesn’t take a PENNY until you’re satisfied.

T&D won’t take a small job like that- called them for the last 2 years to enclose our lanai and they would not quote it- too many bigger jobs (pools and enclosures)

We also used Brian Terry and were completely satisfied. This was 5 years ago and their work looks like new.

We used White Aluminum. Although we are happy with the finished product, their concrete subcontractors could have done a much better job. We would have went with Brian Terry Vinyl but they stopped accepting jobs halfway through the year (2022) as they were too busy. Brian Terry is who I would recommend.

We recently had a birdcage installed by CVS and are satisfied with the results. It included a concrete pad w/drains and a "raised planter" area that we filled in with pea gravel for our dogs. Our birdcage is parallel with the street, so we added a 36" tall kickplate. This was to prevent our dogs from seeing all the dog walkers and eliminated the puppy chaos. CVS handled all the approvals, including ARC and the County permits. Just make sure you receive a copy of the ARC approval. The Salesman (Doug) was awesome to work with and he really brainstormed with us to develop a wonderful solution within our budget. Once we committed to them, they assigned a Project Manager (Aaron) who was our single point of contact for the job. Good luck with your Project!

I would recommend the Pergola kings at Magellan, and Bryan Terry Vinyl. I have used both and they are both great.

Another vote for Cook’s Aluminum. Extended concrete and added bird cage this year. Did a great job!
