OP specified 1-2 Hold 'em. That means $1 small blind, $2 big blind. You can typically buy in with any amount, but standard is 100x the small blind, so in this case you should probably bring $100. You might get by with $50 or less, but we aren't talking about nickel/dime/quarter stakes here.
