We bought ours at Hudson's, in Ocala.

It's a Biltmore Mattress, Box Spring and Plush top Mattress...

It's a very deep mattress, so you need deep pocket sheets, but we LOVE it. They also have it in less firm options...

Shop around, and most importantly, lay on the mattress or one like it, before you buy it. We bought ours at Mattress Firm, but we shopped around to make sure we were getting a good deal.

The mattresses you are looking at are memory foam, latex, or hybrid type mattresses that don’t require a box spring and are best suited for a platform bed frame. There are also many traditional mattress/box spring options available that fit on a traditional bed frame designed to use a box spring. One’s mattress choice is obviously both a personal and financial decision that shouldn’t be taken lightly since we spend approximately 1/3 of our lives in bed. We are huge fans of our three layer 100% latex mattress. It’s expensive, extremely comfortable, requires a heavy duty platform bed frame, and will easily last our lifetime. We like it so much we have the exact same setup at both of our homes.

We shopped all over and decided that we did not want to buy a new mattress every 8-10 years. Because of this we went with a 3 layer 100% Talalay Latex mattress. If you go that route, be prepared to spend $4-5K for the mattress.
In our guest room, which get very occasional use, we opted for a Sealy Hybrid which was a little less than $2k.
Both of these King mattresses use a solid wood foundation. Older style box springs cannot support the weight of these mattresses.

Costco Casper is often on sale for 500 or less. Easy to return if dissatisfied. No brainer, no risk. I have multiple and used to have a chain store hotel mattress which was junk in less than 10 years. Imperceptible difference

If you want a quality hotel mattress look here. They are built industrial strength to withstand wear and tare. You can book a night stay and try it out properly. Avoid chain stores, the salespeople are as useless as car salesmen.

Not only can you get a box spring they also come in different heights. Take that into consideration when buying because sometimes it is not easy to get into bed. We bought a hybrid mattress from Macy's and love it.

We have been buying mattresses from The Original Mattress Factory for decades for various homes and vacation homes, rental properties and for our children when they bought their first homes and never had a problem with them.

I swear by the beds manufactured by 'WinkBed'. I highly recommend them-It's a luxury value at a mid-price point. I'm on my third one, and only reason I still don't have the first one is that I've moved and sold turnkey twice. Check them out!

We purchased an adjustable bed with our choice of mattress at The Original Mattress Factory several years ago and are very satisfied.

We just bought a $10k tempur pedic mattress and platform. The platform was over $4000. We got rid of a mattress and platform that costs us $7k 20 years ago with the split adjustable frame. We gave that away.
The tempur pedic platform has every adjustment you would think you would want and more. This has lumbar support, snoring feature to raise the head up a few inches, multiple messaging levels, tv viewing position, speakers to play music or white noise, and smarts in it so you get a daily report on your sleeping like pulse, rem, light sleep, how many times you got up, and more. The mattress is the cool mattress and is the hybrid so it does have some coils in it along with all the memory foam. So far we are happy.

We purchased a mattress and box spring from The Original Mattress Factory when we moved to Florida and are very happy with it. I did not want to go the way of the platform bed and I prefer a firm mattress.

We just purchased a Serta coil spring mattress from mattress firm for $500. (Queen size). When we got it home it slept much too soft. It turned out that we also needed a new box spring. We purchased the Serta 2.0 and once that was in it turned out to be very comfortable. Total cost was around $800. We had them haul away the 10 year old units

We learned our lesson after many moves, buying new beds and mattresses each time. The difference in the price of mattresses is, mostly, a matter of salesmanship and the buyer's ego.

For The Villages, we bought six Twin XL of the cheapest adjustable beds and the cheapest "mattress in a box", one pair from Costco and two sets from Sam's Club. We push the beds together and use a single king-size sheet and blanket or quilt to cover both beds. Electrically adjustable beds are all the same. Sealy and others slap a different label on theirs and double the price.

The best deal is at Sam's Club. The twin XL adjustable bed is $399. We have four and they have worked perfectly for three years. The cheapest mattress is the house brand, Members Mark, "Hotel Premier" for $200. It is all foam, and works for us. An alternative, which was not available when we bought, is the adjustable Lulaa Bed which Sam's sells for $999. It comes with a 12" multi-layer foam mattress. It is "soft" on one side and "firm" on the other, allowing you a choice. It appears identical in construction to the Sealy Embody, which Sam's sells for $599 for the mattress alone. The Lulaa bed looks to be a great bargain and the mattresses has the feature of "edge support", which the all-foam mattresses do not.

We use the tallest legs which come with the adjustable bed. This gives us storage room for our luggage and other large items.

Shipping is free if you are a "Plus" member. If not, the "Plus"membership is $110.

Amazon has some nice inexpensive hybrid beds in a box. Half springs and half memory foam.

The one I got is an Ashley and holding up quite well.

We bought the city furniture brand mattresses (Kevin Charles?) with slim box springs so the beds are lower and easier to get in/out of and they are very comfortable. Several firmness/padding levels available at different price points and you can try them in store. I purchased a Nectar foam mattress on Amazon for my daughter who has back issues after doing extensive research and she loves it. The downside of switching from traditional innerspring mattress to foam is that you won’t sleep well at hotels etc any longer once you get used to foam every night.
