Garage door gasket - not the one on the ground but around it

Hello beautiful people. The gasket piece around my garage door ripped in half and has to be replaced. This is not the bottom gasket piece on the door. That one is easy to replace and I have done that one myself. I would like the whole garage door gasket replaced, sides and top because of its age and dry rotting. My question is does anyone know someone who does this repair at a fair price? Thank you.

Try Ryan O'Cull, 352-617-0522 or Scott, 352-697-0321. These are garage door experts, but I don't know if they replace gaskets.

This looks like the type Lowe's and Home depot sell. If it is this is a vinyl strip with the flexible gasket attached. The strip gets nailed into the framework around the garage door. Many of the local handymen can do this, I did my own. Note if you want the same look, you will need to get matching paint, and be sure who ever does the work uses rust resistant or similar nails and the molding needs to be sealed with a high quality paintable silicon sealer to the side of the garage opening.

It's called Vinyl Draft Stop. Home Depot and Lowe's carry them, however the maximum length they sell is 9'. This will not be long enough for one piece to cover the main garage door. You'll have to go to Romac Garage Door Division off of Rolling Acres Road, as they carry 7,9 and 16' pieces. They are $2.45 per linear foot.

Use aluminum nails, then apply latex, paintable caulk, once installed. Do not use silicone, as it cannot be painted.

This sound like a DIY project, and I just replaced the bottom strip and the side strips around the golf cart garage door. When I went to replace those strips around the car garage door, I found it difficult. First feeding the bottom strip was a pain to do myself since the door is about 16' in length and there wasn't much room on either side. Then I found that they do sell the side strips at Lowe's and Home Depot, but they are 10' strips which means I would have to piece it together.
So, my neighbor hook me up with a handyman that will do the job and has access to 16' strips. I suggest you go that route and save yourself a headache.

I replaced all, used 4 pieces. Best to have a brad nailer, but not necessary.

They tear or get sticky as the vinyl decays in the sun. DON’T try to remove the old trim. Just slice off the old gasket with a box cutter and nail the new trim over the old trim. That’s what the pros do. If you are good with your hands, this is an easy project. The trim pieces will cost you about $60, and you will save $200.

With all due respect, I've put up close to 1,000 lf of VDS. I believe you might be confusing what is used here in The Villages with another product you see online.

You're exactly right. Done properly the old is removed before installing the new. That being said, I've seen one of the large garage door companies that advertise on the morning news install new on top. Very unprofessional and lazy.

I took your advice and went onto Amazon, my home away from home.
The do carry weather stripping at 34' lengths, but what they're selling does not match the picture you posted.
The produce they show does not seem to be the same quality.

I have done dozens of these. They sell them at Lowes. Not expensive. I can install them in about an hr. 715-614-2045
