Just issue of majority people not stopping and just busting right through like there no stop sign. Or doing (enter your state) the rolling right through. Just like most 4 way stops, roll through stop sign thinking they have right away. You’re not in line till you stop preferably at or behind the stop sign not half way out in intersection… ;)

If you don't stop and cover the crosswalk some inconsiderate pedestrian might walk in front of you.

Might possibly be because there are far fewer golf carts driving around during hurricanes.

Just think how fast your cart could go with a really good tail wind! WOW!

I would hate to see how many cart/car accidents we would have without the gates. Cars would come off the round a bouts and never slow down. It can be a bit sketchy now, even with the gates when there's a lot of traffic.

They take the gates down prior to hurricanes.

I'm not suggesting taking down gates at actual intersections but there is so many unnecessary gates at non intersections.

If you can't see a gate arm or a yellow speed bump with signage then maybe you shouldn't be driving.

Amazing that during inclement weather they take the gate arms down with no real uptick of issues.

TV is so stubborn and stuck in outdated technology.

You commented that it was amazing there was no uptick in cart issues when they took down the arms during inclement weather.

I commented that might be because there are far fewer carts moving about during inclement weather.

Yes, hurricanes are one of the inclement weather events when they take the gates down.

Where are there gates at non-intersections, or are you referring to most of the entry gates into neighborhoods?

Even most entry gates have carts crossing or merging.

I almost got hit by the gate yesterday, when the person in the lane next to me exited their gate..then decided to STOP and wave on golf carts…which caused me to be stuck under MY gate! I panicked as it started coming down..but luckily went back up. The guy behind Him/her was also trapped. 🤬

I hate it when they do that...

Scanned my card yesterday, the reader beeped but the gate didn't go up. Had to back up and try again.

Wondering if the so called "upgrade" is in play?

Still think they should
make them operate automatically similar to exit hated
