Football?, baseball?, apple pie?, congress I'm sure, I just hate it! But I'm sure when offered $556,000,000 (like jon rahm), most of us would be history also, have we no moral compass any more? Where does this end, when Saudis run out of money?

I don't understand. What does a moral compass have to to do with it? He plays golf for a living. It is a job. It is his J O B! He's not throwing old ladies out of their homes, or tying damsels to railroad tracks or other dastardly things. He opted to get a better paying position in another company. Like an American League player moving to the National League.

My allegiance to my country and my wife are the only things not for sale!

Note, the two things listed in alphabetical order.

No matter what profession it’s ALL about money and ALWAYS will be until money is worthless. Then, that’s when real animals show their face.

I saw an interesting interview with Lee Trevino, & (spoiler alert) he said the PGA can't compete. I'll look to see if I can find it again.

I saw an interesting interview with Lee Trevino, & (spoiler alert) he said the PGA can't compete. I'll look to see if I can find it again.

Here it is. “I don’t know where it’s going, but I will say this: that if it is true that they have $600 billion in that kitty, I don’t know how we’re going to compete,” Trevino said. “When you look at it, they’re starting to get better and better players. If they get points — they’re negotiating now, if I’m not mistaken, to get points — if that happens, if they go to four rounds at LIV and take that tour to 60, and still pay these players, I can’t tell you how many players we’re gonna lose. And good ones.

“They can absolutely drown you,” Trevino continued. “What can we do? We’re nonprofit. And when we run out of money, there’s no way we can fight it. And you know what I’m afraid of? If they get a network, then they might not need the tour.”

Lee Trevino's take on the PGA Tour's uphill battle with LIV Golf (https://golf.com/news/lee-trevino-on-pga-tour-uphill-battle-liv-golf/)

Story from long ago....this is an adult board, right?

A gentleman approached a lady and asked "would you sleep with me for ten million dollars?"

"Of course", the lady replied. "I'd be a fool not to".

The gentleman then asked "would you sleep with me for TEN dollars?

"What do you think I am", the woman snapped at him. "A w___e?"

"We've already established that", the gentleman replied. "Now we're just trying to agree on price".

Saudi's, their intent is not about making America great (hmmmm!), no, they are making Saudi's better, a country at the heart of an attack on America, which I will NEVER forgive because their future intent has not changed, nor will mine.
I would NEVER challenge intents of others BUT, with my broad brush, I can safely say, Saudi leadership is BAD TO THE BONE!

Saudi Arabia does some bad and some good . They have been a help in getting funding for covert operations by western governments including close to home backing of the Contras in Nicaragua ,they have also been fighting a war against the Houthis rebels backed by Iran for many years with support from the USA ,the UK and France . The war is ugly but so are most civil wars . The Saudi family is a true believer in the slogan the enemy of my enemy is my friend .

“Root of ALL EVIL.....Money”

A pretty big part of most good in our society too.

The quote from 1 Timothy 6:10: For the love of money is the root of all of evil: which while some coveted after, they have erred from the faith, and pierced themselves through with many sorrows.

Money in and of itself is not evil, it is simply a means of the transference of value, however greed and avarice of money generally lead to a moral decay resulting in what is generally referred to as evil.

We all worked hard during our lifetimes to better our position and improve the life we had and gave to our families. In modern society this goal is generally achieved by most through the acquisition of wealth and an increased value of our own earnings power. This is neither good nor evil, that definition is solely within the individual's own control in how they achieve it and what they do with it. Philanthropy is rarely considered evil though many consider those in a position to be the most philanthropic as somehow being evil people because they were able to amass a considerable financial position in life. Rarely is that the case.

I would submit that those who quickly go about throwing the sin of "greed" on others are themselves guilty of just as deadly a sin, envy.

I'm a little torn here, because the PGA is a monopoly here in the USA and dictates ownership of everything a pro golfer does including any photos taken of him. An opportunity to work for more money causes people to change jobs all the time. There is no longer a commitment to a company, nor does Companies have commitment to many of their employees. How long would you stay with your present employer if you won the $800,000,000 lottery. No two week notice I'm sure.

Back in the early 2000's Harvard was teaching its students that, the minute they take a new job, they should start looking for their next job! Loyalty is being naive today. In a capitalist society, there is only money loyalty, its the nature of the beast. Loyalty only exists now when it is a financial benefit otherwise your seen as a fool.
People are leaving religion as well. Sad to say companies have been thinking this way for a long time too. Just like our legal system, the rich get away with it while the poor get punished.
We have no problem taking Saudi Oil or their money to protect them militarily.Reality has reared its ugly head into golf.
This is a financial window that will benefit all LIV players, God bless them.
The real problem is there is no profit motive for the Saudi's. Won't happen.
And thats a bigger problem today, power wants power more than money. Its the new toy of the filthy rich.

Personally, I have felt since about 1970 that the major SPORTS in college and the pros are paid WAY TOO much money. Take ANY college coaching job and cut the salary in HALF and I believe that the quality of the sports team and the attendance would NOT suffer. Most fans would NOT even KNOW the difference between a good coaching decision and a bad one. The expert announcers would likely disagree. Put the wasted money on coaches back into the quality of the stadium and the college general fund.

I would like the overall result. But the solution methods are just a TINY bit excessive. I believe that it would have cost the US less to have developed industries and factories to have hired the locals in Central America - cost less than it will now to TRY to remove them (unlikely) or to TRY to integrate them into US society (costly and a kick in the teeth for existing citizens).

Who pays for the razor wire, fenceposts, maintenance, installation, the gun towers, guns, bullets, maintenance of the towers and guns, restrooms for the guards, the guards, uniforms, laundry, etc, etc, and lastly, who clears away the bodies? WOW! Did I suggest golfers are terrorists? Don't think so. Did I suggest golfers change allegiance from their own country? Don't think so? Moving from PGA to LIV means bigger paycheck. It's only golf. It isn't terrorism. Your mind must make some pretty bizarre and illogical leaps to reach the conclusion I was supporting terrorism in any way. Wow, this thread certainly got off topic. Shocking news!

PGA Tour Golfers are independent contractors/business owners. They have a right to work for whoever wants to pay them, just like Boxers back in the day, who worked for Don King and the other creeps in that business.

The PGA Tour is just about the most disingenuous bunch of phonies imaginable. They've been wooing the Saudi money for years and got caught behind the curve when the Saudis started up LIV.

I used to manage the club that hosted LIV Boston. It was a sensational event and I never saw golf fans having as much fun at a tournament, except perhaps Waste Management. They did a great job, the players were accessible, friendly and engaging. The entertainment value far exceeded any PGA Tour event I've been to. Isn't entertainment what sports in the USA has become?

& I know you read it on the Internet, but don't believe Jon Rahm got $600M. The number is grossly exaggerated.

Players make a profit. With all of huge signing bonuses, Extensive marketing, terrible TV contract, small crowds, no profit for LIV. In meantime they are trying to do the same with soccer and tennis.
