Publix Digital Coupons.

I bought some things last week and it looked like I should have gotten the $15.00 on a few items that you have to buy $40.00 worth of that and similar things and get $10.00 off and another was get $5.00 off if you buy two. Or, maybe it was by amount of a certain kind of product.

Anyway. Last week I had entered my phone number as I believe is needed to get the digital deals but the cashier said I needed these to have been printed off my computer or downloaded on my phone.

I did have a page of Publix coupons of the digital kind but some of them had a barcode on them and they all looked a little different from one another or a lot different.

Today I did go to the Publix customer service and got my $15.00 which was nice.

I have been going to Publix stores since 1996 as there were many in the Palm Harbor/Safety Harbor/Oldsmar area of Florida where we lived before moving to the Villages in 2005.

Love their stores and find them usually very friendly. I have been to many of the Villages' Publixes depending on what I was doing before going to one of their stores.

On a funny aside is something I had posted earlier about today's visit to a Publix --


I was on the John in Publix today and heard a guy say "Ready! Aim!" and got a little discombobulated. I went out cautiously of the large area with the John and the sink preparing for whatever might come. And looked towards the urinals and saw two men and much smaller set of legs in front of one of the men. A father must have been training his son how to pee standing up.

The cashiers at Publix may not know how the digital coupons work. I seemed to have one at a Villages' Publix who did not. And I lost $15.00 in savings but got it back. Granted I had to buy $40 of Charmin toilet paper. Or some such related product. And another health care product as well.

There was a coupon in the digital print ads at the front of the store which had a marking on it like you could just cut that out and use the code on it.

It seems like it’s the new trick being used by retailers to jam their apps down your throat (or onto your phones). No deals for you, unless you use their app.

Some of the coupons do have a code on them and I am assuming these are the ones you can cut out. And I did get the $15.00 this week.

I am still very hard copy oriented.

Thank God their BOGOs are still easy to get.

We didn’t renew BJs due to coupons. Rarely shop At Publix but if coupons are involved will just drive elsewhere. Buy one get one is second on my list. Price usually ends the same as single

Those coupons aren't free if it's at the expense of your personal information.

The Publix ExtraSavings coupons have a bar code or whatever you call that square of dots and dashes with publix.com/digital-coupons written to the left side. Like "When You Spend $40 on Bounce, Bounty, Cascade, Charmin, Dawn, Downy, Gain or Tide" You get $10 off. This is from last week. The page I took last week to check-out.

I bought about $50 of Charmin.

The square with the lines and dots is called a QR code. QR stands for quick response.

If you read those ads, you'll see that those are digital "mfg" coupons. Meaning - manufacturer's coupons. They're just like the coupons that come in Sunday paper inserts. You can open your app and let the cashier scan the QR code, OR you can print out the page, OR you can just grab the paper copy at the front of the store and use those instead.

But those deals are offered by the manufacturer of the product, so no, it can't just be a discount on your account. The cashier has to scan in a code, so that the store gets credit from the manufacturer for giving that discount to you. Otherwise, the store has to eat the cost of a discount they aren't offering.

Thanks. Seems like I just had miscommunication with the cashier at Publix last week. I had the paper insert but did not point out the coupon with the QR for Charmin, Bounce, etc.

But it all worked out in the long run.

$50 of toilet paper at Publix. That must have been for 6 rolls of toilet paper. I just don’t see paying the huge difference in price for name brand items that you can get anywhere else for 20% cheaper. For example, the same Post cereal can be over 20% more at Publix than another store, and most of my shopping comprises of these types of products. Bogo deals end up around 10-20% cheaper than other stores.

Had a problem with the app last week. A manager got it to work correctly at the Customer Service desk along with a malfunctioning Publix gift card I had.

Pepsi 6-packs of the 16.9oz bottles are ridiculously expensive at Publix.

Right now, Pepsi is $8.49. But there's a B1G1 sale, so you can get 2 of them for 4.25 each.

At Walmart, their regular price is $5.88 and you don't have to get 2 in order to take advantage of that price.

On the other hand, if you buy FOUR of the 6-packs, you can get another $2 off with a coupon. So that's 50 cents cheaper, at $3.75 per 6-pack. But, you have to buy 4 of them to get that sale.

When they're not on sale, you'll have to pay $8.49 for your 6-pack of Pepsi. If the difference was just a few cents, I wouldn't care. But that's a 40% price difference, over $2, for the same product, size, variety.

I do most of my grocery shopping at Walmart. For meats, chicken, pork, I go to Publix or Winn Dixie, except if I'm near Fresh Market when they're having a sale. Then I get it there instead. Same with Sprouts. I love that place, but I don't live all that close to it. And believe it or not, Walmart has great peaches when they're in season. Go figure.

BOGO means "buy one get one". But, every time I buy something, I get it. So, how is this a bargain? Shouldn't it be BOGT, or "buy one get two"?

There's one at Sumter Square right on the edge of the roundabout off Morse Blvd. There's a third one at Pinellas Plaza. And for those who live south of 44 to the west, there's another one in Wildwood. Pretty sure that's the only one you can't get to by golf cart.

I am close to Southern Trace. I was talking about me not others in the Villages. I do go to the Sumter Landing Winn Dixie especially after a movie at the Old Mill Playhouse or donating blood at a One Blood bus in Winn Dixie's parking lot.

But the Southern Trace Publix is very close.

We have been here since June or so of 2005.
