I know many villages have issues with mail delivery. As such, I’d like to let everyone know that a representative from US Postal Service will be at Everglades Recreational Center tomorrow (Wed 1/10) from 9-11 am. This is a service of our elected representative that occurs a few times per year. Other departments being represented will be VA, IRS and SS. Everglades is the rec center in Marsh Bend. We have not gotten any traction contacting Lady Lake about the postal service, but perhaps if residents go in-person tomorrow, we may start to turn this situation around. I am told that the contracted postal employees are vindictive and when complaints have been posted to Facebook, retaliation occurs. I thought this board was a safer option.

We have been in Pinellas, and have had no problems with the mail, and even had the postal contractor deliver items to the house, they get a tip every Christmas.

That’s awesome. We have a big problem in some of the newer villages. Specifically Hawkins. I’d like to keep it just where the problems are, but like I said, people have posted on FB and their mail service got worst for their trouble. So if your mail service is good, you don’t have to worry about this thread.

20 years here in The Villages now and mail has not been an issue. As far as we are concerned, they could deliver mail 1-2 days a week and that would be just fine.

After living in multiple villages what determines your quality of mail service is your contractor. Informed Delivery made residents aware of mail not showing up, which seems to not sit well with some contractors.
One village residents mail in wrong boxes, packages sat in the back for days before finally entering in a larger box. Mail delivered to wrong boxes, became so common, that residents would drop off wrong mail at their neighbors who greatly appreciated the gesture. If you wanted to inquire about a informed missing mail or package, either no one would answer the knock, or just tell you no time to look, you just need to wait.
Once you filed a complaint mail became even more sketchy, a PO Box was just smart. Just before we left that village, 2 of the workers were moved to different stations, after dealing with serious Mail issues for 4 years. Things started to improve

you are spot on. I've tried Lady Lake with the same results and still have the same issues, and from this last season apparently a vendetta against me . go figure.

Hadley used to have an excellent USPS contractor, but she was taken from us and reassigned. The replacement contractor is responsible for mail in two Villages, so to say he's rushed is an understatement, and outgoing mail is ignored because of his haste to get all mail distributed. I have tracking on all parcels, and sometimes drop box mail doesn't make it to the Lady Lake Post Office for two days even though the contractor may be headed back to Lady Lake USPS later in the day. This creates hardship for anyone who has an obligation to get mail out by a certain date and confirmed by a USPS scan. This probably isn't a common problem for most here in The Villages, but it is still a USPS issue. It's not just the new sections having issues with mail.

I'm in Virginia Trace and the Post Office has divided the Village into two zip-plus routes. The problem is that they do not come to the mail station at the same time. One arrives around Noon and the other arives around 5PM. Can you guess which one serves my area? I find it best to pick up mail at 9 AM the next day. New slogan for the Post Office - Yesterday's mail today!

If you get your mail at a mail station you're dealing with a contractor, not USPS.

So, what are your issues?
One issue I have is that they will send you an email saying that your package has been delivered, but it has only been dropped off at the postal station, but not delivered into the mailbox. If you show up to collect it, they will tell you that they don't have time to sort through the packages. To me, delivered should mean delivered to the mailbox.

Aside from the mail, are Amazon/UPS/Fedex packages delivered directly to your door?

Really, you don't understand? That service has been grandfathered for years. The postal service is non sustaining and the government is reluctant to subsidize. Technology is taking the lead on delivery of stuff you need and order. There really isn't a need for the Postal Service and I suspect that when we die it will eventually die also.

Yes, unless they transfer them to USPS and pay the postage. USPS packages are normally delivered to the postal station, but sometimes they deliver them to your house if they run out locker space at the postal station. Also, there are some high priority USPS packages delivered to your house.
