We need to have a 240 40A NEMA 14-50 outlet installed in our garage for an EV we have ordered. A rather simple install as we'd need the dedicated outlet installed directly below our garage main circuit box.
I searched here, but only a couple Electric firms came up.
I'd like recommendations/referral from recent customers please. Looking for a reliable quality Electrician, at a reasonable cost. Any info would be greatly appreciated, thanks.

I have talked with Pikes and Lenhart about installing a NEMA 14-50. Either one can do the job for you. There are almost certainly others. You might want to consider specifying a Hubbell or Bryant 14-50 outlet otherwise you will probably get a Leviton.

Maybe consider adding a surge suppressor at the same time.

Folks on TOTV, thx so much for your input.
I called the 3 electricians that you provided. This is for a 240V NEMA 14-50 outlet install for EV charging. A rather simple job, as I'd like the outlet placed directly below our Circuit box.
FYI, here are the quotes:
Hayes Electric - $700
Lenhart - $550
Pikes - $423.
I used a 10% off for Jan 2024 with Pikes. Would be $470 without the Jan discount.
SO impressed with Cassandra at Pike's. Their quote is very detailed, sent PDF to me this morning. Specs out the entire Job in writing. Yikes! They have our business for sure.
Prime example of getting a few quotes for jobs around The Villages...
Thanks again folks...

Pre Covid Lenhart ran ads for $250 to install a 240 outlet next to the breaker box. Thanks Joe.

Congrats? Personally, I can’t understand why anyone would buy a car that has absolutely ZERO resale/trade in value. Nevermind all the other inherent problems with these supposed problem solvers. You couldn’t give me one.

????? Well that's your opinion and just fine. But IMO not based on reality at all. We see all the anti-EV, anti-Musk stuff, for whatever axes they may have to grind.
We are NOT 'green' or obsessed with environmental concerns etc etc. But we've had opportunities to drive Teslas and they are simply amazing. EVs are certainly not for everyone. But for us and so many others they are phenomenal. Perfect fit for us, extremely safe and so fun to drive. And very reasonable $$$ to boot.
But that's us, and many others. I respect other's opinions and actions...

You might want to consider a 50 amp circuit rather than 40 A. 40 A will only let you charge at 32 A which might be adequate for your current car but in the future you might need more. The 50 amp circuit will let you charge at 40 A which is required for several different types of cars. I had a 60 amp circuit installed when my house was built. This allows me to use the Tesla wall charger at its maximum rate of 48 A. My current Tesla only needs 32 A but I’m looking forward to the future. Changing from 40 A to 60 A only cost a few extra dollars but will save you a lot in case you have to upgrade in the future.

Green Light Electric - Crystal River
Had them install exterior lights. They did a great job. They arrived as scheduled. They turned out being half the price of a local electrician. They do a lot of work in The Villages. They are family owned.
Was a little nervous but turned out great!

Call Walter Anderson - Electrician- 352-775-4245. I've used him many times. He's a retired electrician and his prices are fair. Tell him Craig sent you.

In 2018 Lenhart charged $200 to install a 50A outlet (NEMA 14-50) just below the breaker box in the garage. Evidently the price has gone up, but anything over $300 is ridiculous considering how easy it is. Material cost is negligible. It's all labor. It took them less than half hour.
To be honest, I would think twice about bothering with the 240V oulet . In my Wisconsin house I have one 14-50 outlet where I charge my Y. I charge my X with a regular 110V outlet since the plug won't reach and I don't feel like playing musical cars. I even use an extension cord with the 110V mobile adapter. I can get 100 miles a day charge with 110V. I guess if you regularly drive more than that then you need 240V.
