There isn’t much that scares me, but poisonous snakes (the cottonmouth) are one of them.

Actually, you will be surprised at hearing this: The black racer has a very good chance of winning a fight. The cottonmouth bite does not affect the black racer. I've seen a video where the cottonmouth bit the black racer, but it didn't phase it at all. And that black racer won the fight by strangling the cottonmouth. In this particular situation where I videotaped the cottonmouth and black racer, they laid together in the bush for about a half hour. Then the black racer all of a sudden, in one big move, threw his whole body over to another bush. So no fisticuffs!

Black snakes were always good around the farm. They would take care of any rats, mice and poisonous snakes.
