Usually, I think, below 48° or when it is cold wind or thunder. Hard to play guitar when hand is freezing, I guess.

There was an announcement this afternoon on WVLG radio. I'm not familiar with any other form of notification.

What is very annoying is that the website is not often updated very quickly and sometimes WVLG announces nothing even though performances are closed.
I wish they could just send out a blast on Twitter or something when things are cancelled. This information is better to be pushed, not pulled. Forcing people to waste their time checking if things are cancelled or not doesn't make any sense.

Pushing requires personnel and expense. Asking you to simply pull is only a perceived inconvienence to you and has no revenue impact. Bookmark the page on your computer or phone and just check before heading out. it's not that difficult.

They already have a push notification system in place. Zero additional costs to use it. Currently they already send out notices about meetings, newsletter, boil water notices, closures, holiday trash pickup etc.
Why don't they send out info about square events plus CANCELLATIONS with that system??? THIS IS AN OPPORTUNITY FOR SO MUCH IMPROVEMENT over the old way. And they can still keep doing it the lousy old way if they want.
Wouldn't it be nice to look on your phone and see emails like these: (FAKE dates)
Subject: Square 1/21/24 entertainment schedule
Body: Each square entertainment. Band names, music type, band info. Times
Subject: Art Show 12/16/23 10am - 5pm Brownwood
Body: Details about this special event. What to expect. Should I bring anything? Who is running the event and their contact info.
This could be sent out a few days in advance to give people time to plan.
None of this appears on the entertainment link others sent out in previous posts.
Subject: CANCEL 1/20/24 SQUARE ENTERTAINMENT
Body: Due to cold weather, the (etc)
Subject: CANCEL 2/17/23 FARMERS MARKET
Body: Farmer's Market 2/17/2023 is cancelled due to weather forecast of excessive winds and rain. Next event is Saturday 2/24/2023
None of this appears on the entertainment link others sent out in previous posts.
Give us enough information from just reading the subject to easily convey the message. No clicking and endless scrolling. If we want all the details, the body contents everything about what's happening in one all inclusive message. Maybe even with URL links to additional information like band's web pages, show organizer's web page, TV web pages. etc.
Immediate release of important time sensitive information without delays.
Instead we have to go hunt for information. Sometimes on one of their many web sites depending upon the event type. Sometimes on facebook. Sometimes on the radio. Sometimes where we don't know where to look.

Two different entities involved.
District, VCDD, handles the numerous notices you mentioned while The Villages Entertainment group, developer, handles the other events you mentioned.

Last I checked, offering suggestions for improvement is never "whining".
I have tried calling and received the "you need to call people2" brush off.
I called people2. Received the "you need to call people3" brush off, again.
So I tried again, and called people3.
And again I received the "you need to call people4" brush off.
So I tried again, and called people4.
And again I received the "you need to call" brush off BUT it was back to who I called first.
They are stuck in the past. Nobody wants to try anything that could be different than the antique ways things are done.
Maybe if enough people demand they get into modern times, somebody will finally try.
Again, your opinion and would only be for your benefit. Since you don't know how it really works you might want to get an appointment with John Rohan and sit down and discuss. Looking for the easy way out may not be the best way.

Rohan is Recreation not Entertainment.

Hard to believe someone’s whole day is ruined by no entertainment at the squares. Yet here it is:)

Guess some peoples view of entertainment is some third rate band playing oldies for old people.

Unless, the OP is a vendor and needs to know the information to see if there will be people at the square.

You have no idea what you're talking about. Sending out a push notification doesn't cost anything. If you have The Villages App on your phone it would show up if the person opts into it. This is how the modern world operates.
