Outdoor garden hose faucets..are they freeze proof?
No. When a HARD freeze is predicted, I have an insulated cover that I place over the hose bibs, and I disconnect the hoses.

No need for concern. Been here 12 years and have never had an issue. Leave them be

I'm from far up north and we never worried about anything like that unless we were more than 5-10 degrees below freezing for more than 72 hours in a row. Otherwise, you're wasting your time worrying about it. Water in pipes doesn't freeze very fast at all when it's 25 degrees, would take 3 days at 25 degrees for mostly unexposed pipes to freeze at that rate which would likely never happen in TV.

Jus so you know..............the pipe on the back side of your faucet is not as long as the picture. Up North, they are that long, going into the basement of a house. I have covers like Tink, but I've only used them once in over 10 years. I really, really don't think there is a risk, but the covers are cheap and I'm retired so I buy stuff I don't need.

If you have a gap around the hose bibb where air can get behind the wall, a strong, steady wind can freeze the pipe. Otherwise, it is very unlikely that the pipe will freeze. Check for gaps and caulk them.

There is/would be zero need to cover your faucets here, ever! If there was ever a freeze here of that significance, the entire Villages would be an emergency declaration war zone! Most of Floridamwould be!
Busted pipes every other house
Sidewalks, driveways and roads heaving a couple feet each way
Utility trucks everywhere
Power wires down because piles have shifted…etc
If or when this happens (hasn’t yet), there would be complete and unimaginable devastation.

To answer your question, yes those in your image are as freeze proof as possible. The actual valve is at the other end of the pipe from the handle. it is designed to self drain from that valve so there isn't any water from "inside" the wall/house to freeze.
Are they needed here? Probably not. Like villagetinker, I also have faucet covers that I use. Faucet Cover (https://www.lowes.com/pd/CompanyBox-Hard-Plastic-Faucet-Cover/5013648589)

At my location way in the north of villages it got down to 24 degree, next night 26 degrees and third night 28 degrees last year. IMO that’s cold enough to possibly crack something full of water. IMO at least disconnect water hose. But I am anal and take over precautions. So far this year 33 been lowest so far.

Some say wind chill can’t freeze with temperatures above freezing. IMO the problem where you take the temperature when close to freezing. Why black ice forms when temperature off ground is above freezing but temperatures at ground are freezing?

It is always helpful to be cautious. True on the temps, but everyday it went above freezing for the day and through the evening during the Christmas freeze of 2022.
