I see the Morose bridge is getting some work done. Will it be open for cart traffic?

Parker Morse Island Bridge project to begin

District Property Management will be performing revetment for the island's shoreline below Parker Morse Bridge to prevent erosion. This will involve clearing the area and installing rip-rap around the shoreline. The main area of construction will be stationed at the Sunset Park lookout at the center of the bridge. The park will be closed for the duration of the project. Curbing will be removed between the golf cart lane and automotive lane to allow entry and exit for equipment and construction materials. Construction flagmen will direct traffic when construction vehicles are commuting the bridge. Construction is scheduled to begin on Monday, January 29 and work hours will be 7 AM to 7 PM. We appreciate your patience as we strive to provide the best service possible and ensure the District's assets are preserved for our community. Thank you in advance for your understanding. If you have any questions, please call District Property Management at 352-753-4022.

Even if it was open to cart traffic I wouldn't go on it. With the removal of the curbing separating cart and car traffic you just know between speeding cars and impatient cart drivers some one will do something stupid. I'll go way of BV MMP.

Yes, exactly!

When we moved here 8 years ago, we made sure to not buy a house that would require us to drive along Morse north of 466.

Exactly. And it's no worse than driving a cart along Meggison, Pinellas, Hillsborough, Moyer, etc.

No. But it does tell you who to call with questions.

The difference is cart traffic on the Morse bridge is all on one side of the road; would hate to see a head on collision with a car or truck.

Curbing probably only removed at Sunset Park. See announcement.

Thanks for the heads up, go over that bridge very often. Gonna have to leave some extra time. Kind of wondering why they are doing this during the busiest time of the year? Hopefully it won’t take several weeks or months?

I don't take the cart north of 466 for this reason; car only. Did it once in the cart but not after that.

I drive in the diamond lane all the time along Odell Circle. For some reason, that does not seem nearly as dangerous as the diamond lane north of 466.

Wouldn’t they remove it only for a short way at Sunset Park?

Where is a diamond lane? Did you mean the cart lane?

Yes, within the Villages the term "diamond lane" refers to the cart lane at the edge of roads such as Pinellas, Hillsborough, and Morse north of 466.

I would think only for a short distance but some one will find a way to be to mess it up.

It might have something to do with the amount of traffic on Odell Circle vs Morse north of 466.

So much for the announcement construction will begin January 29th. Late afternoon on the 30th and nothing has begun?
