We've used Broward Factory Service for years but are thinking about changing to America Home Shield warranty company. They are less expensive than Broward and offer a higher replacement cost per insured item than Broward offers.
Can any one provide any reviews of their service if you are using them? Thank you.

Insure what you can not afford.
Warranties are money makers for the company.

Just curious. How does AHS determine replacement cost?

I am very surprised that there are a lot of satisfied customers of Broward Factory Service. But, I wouldn't buy any home warranty. I think the whole concept is flawed because it takes away your right to choose how and when to repair or replace an appliance. Save your money and pay out of pocket for home repairs.

Case in point: I had BFS for years. My disposal started to leak. They had the duplicate one on the truck. I wanted to upgrade to the best/quietest, but they wanted to charge me for the installation. Another incident, my hot water expansion tank needed to be replaced. They had one on the truck...$145. Paid it and dropped BFS, never looked back.

Sounds to me like the “good reviews” are all fakes?

Had a terrible experience. Closest repair person was 50 miles away. Difficult to schedule. Then they complained the whole time how little they were paid.

I have AHS. Got it when I bought my 34 year old manufactured home. Had the home inspected and a/c inspected before I bought the home. It stopped working the 1st week. Over 3 years it's been repaired several times. Last time was to replace the capacitor. Before that was the motor in the condenser unit. Same company did the service calls. I got tired of AHS raising the monthly fee every year by 20%. By the way, they replaced my water heater in my old house. The expansion tank was not covered as per the contract.

FWIW when I bought my the 10 year old home in DE the long and foster agent supplied a 2 year Cinch warranty. 6 months in, they replaced my refrigerator. Good deal. So when the two years expired, I renewed. Figured I was playing with house money. 2 years pass and my heat pump went. They covered $5500 of the $6500 cost.

My wife took out a policy with a home maintenance company, Maintenance Plus, when we first moved to TV because I was still working and traveling half the year. Fortunately I was home when they preformed their yearly inspection on the A/C. The rep showed me some freon spillage and said we needed a new unit because of a leak. A neighbor seeing the marked vehicle game over to warn us about them after the rep left.
I called Munns who came over the same day and checked the unit. Their findings were the leak was caused by the rep loosing a cap in the freon line to sell a new unit. They charged it replacing the loss freon. The same A/C continued working for many more years.

We had AHS for several years, and also had BFS for a couple years. BFS wasn't bad for a while, but we found it wasn't worth it. Now, it sounds like they are as bad as the others. AHS uses the cheapest contractors, and discourages them from spending any money, so it is extremely difficult to get timely, proper repairs, and almost impossible to get something replaced. Most reputable contractors end up dropping AHS after a few years. They will come up with every excuse for why something isn't covered, such as saying rust on an air handler that isn't in a conditioned space (in Florida) is improper maintenance. Typically, we could only get them to do bandaid repairs, and we ended up paying for replacements. Save your money.

We dropped American Home Shield for Broward Factory Service and could not be happier. The service has been outstanding, professional and prompt. NO SERVICE CALL charge every time they come out. American Home Shield was charging $125.00 service in addition to the monthly charge. The service was horrible, they have a variety of service providers and Broward has their own experienced service people. They have fixed all our items with no additional charge. We had so many issues with American Shield no way we would use them.

Wow outright fraud to get you to replace the AC. Hope somebody eventually got the police involved and got him thrown behind bars
