There are several used furniture stores in the area that may offer better value than some of the new furniture stores. If you have the time you may want to look these stores first to get an idea what is available and what suits YOUR style.

Congratulations!Better furniture prices OUTSIDE of the Villages. Refrain from the need to advertise you are a Villager. Once they have that information, they will charge you more with add-ons for delivery and then some. I've seen it happen, many times.

Welcome to The Villages. My husband and I have lived here for 18 years and love it. I would go to the furniture stores in Leesburg on 441. We have Comcast/Xfinity for our computer, phone, and TV and we like it. We never have issues. You will enjoy living close to the ocean side and Gulf side. We go on mini-trips to the beach. I switched to Consumer Cellular and love it. They have two stores in The Villages. You will meet some wonderful people here.

Welcome! We’ve been here only two years and love it. Bought an older house furnished but did buy new bedroom furniture from City Furniture. Our experience was good especially as we were buying back when supply chain issues were so bad. They actually had what we wanted in stock. Service was top notch, friendly. We thought the price was a bit high. But back then having what we wanted in stock was priceless. If this happened today, I think I’d shop around.

NEAR Citrus Grove? I lived there and moved to Newell a year later. If in Newell, I admin the FB page there (graphic has the Postal Station). Good orientation info there. Whatever Village you are in, this is a valuable resource. I have Verizon for phone and XFinity for internet/TV. Expensive but never had an outage.

Welcome!
We use Spectrum for internet and cell phones and have no problems with either. They use Verizon towers so coverage is good.
As far as furniture we used Rooms To Go for most of our new furniture. Bought a few accent pieces at At Home in Clermont, or various used furniture stores but I do t particularly like used furniture for upholstered pieces.
Enjoy.

Congratulations for your upcoming move to active retirement heaven. I'm very happy with Xfinity for internet, and Tracfone for cell service.
You can find very good deals for slightly used furniture on Facebook Marketplace or here on TOTV's buy and sell section.
Don't be put off by a few VERY NEGATIVE CURMUDGEONS on this website. Just put them on your "IGNORE" list and enjoy the rest of your experience.
All the best to you.

Welcome! We’ve been here 6 years (2 full time) and we love it. We use Century Link and are quite happy with it. There are many places to shop for furniture in and outside TV that are worth exploring. We recently purchased some in Orlando. Take your time and have fun! Hope you make many friends and enjoy making this your new home.

Congratulations and welcome. We moved here a bit over a year ago and could not be happier. Only advice is take your time furnishing. As an other poster recommended... live in it first to get a feel for what you want your space to look like.

I have Xfinity for internet only. Now $81 /month. TMobile is our cell carrier. We have furnished our turnkey by swapping out and buying on marketplace.

I worked for the Government for 3 years after we moved here. I used and continue to use Xfinity because they were the most reliable connection. I could not afford spotty connection. I never had a problem with the speed and I was on the internet 9 hours per day, 5 days per week.

We use Spectrum for internet. Very reliable. Currently pay $50/month for 500mbps, but like everyone they creep up year after year. However, if you call them each year, they will lower your rate. I just did that a few months ago, and they dropped my rate fro $80 to $50. Ask for Customer Retention.
As for furniture, don't be in a big hurry. You will probably find what you have now is not what you'll want here. Bring what you really need, and take your time finding the rest.

yup..planning on it! Can't afford the Home Insurance increases every year! It's just a matter of time before the AirBnb people turn this place into a Rental community..The Taxes at my other home in the Carolinas are 1/2 the price they are here. The Honeymoon with the Villages is over.

Welcome! If you are in a new house, you very likely have Centric Fiber Optic already installed. Upon closing you will get the info. I think all you have to do is call them. It is fast & inexpensive. You can either call your sales rep, or tell us your Village name & current residents will be able to confirm.

Jim, as you have Xfinity for internet, switch to Xfinity Mobile from Verizon. They use the Verizon system and you get free calling and texting for up to 5 phones. Just pay for data. If you use little, just pay by the gig, if not pay for unlimited. We have 2 phones and pay by the gig, usually about $16 a month.

I use Centric Fiber for internet, which most new homes come pre-installed (modem/router) and live from day one even before you call for service setup. It is fast, not overpriced for 1G internet. I have Verizon for cell service, but unless they do something about adding a tower in the Dabney area SOON, we'll switch. Having 1 bar on a cell phone even outside is just bad and inside reception issues and drops aren't uncommon. If you have good service at your new home stick with what you have, and if not, ask neighbors what they have and if their cell signal is strong.

Hi Justputt, turn wifi calling on, & in your house your calls will be trouble free. Also, wifi calling within the US (with Verizon) doesn't use any of your data & is free within what you are currently paying for the internet service.

We do not recommend Tmobile 5G Internet here. Enormous slowdowns at random times throughout the day.
So bad it slows too much to keep a streaming movie going.

May I ask, where is "near Citrus Grove"? I ask because I am a new resident of Lake Denham and TV started wiring new builds with fiber optic all the way to the wifi router above everyone's kitchen cabinets. I'm not sure which in village they started this practice. My fiber feed comes from Centric and it is essential for working from home. Fiber optic internet connections are very fast and reliable. $65 a month for 1 gig connection. The house is also prewired with Cat 6 cable so by adding a gigabit switch I have 1 gig to share in every room with an outlet for work stations, TVs, gaming consoles, etc. I can add TV packages to my internet plan but I stream what I need from Amazon and Netflix.Their phone app is good and they send alerts if they are working in our area to improve their systems. I dropped Xfinity and switched to fiber at my home near Baltimore because Xfinity lies about actual speeds you get to your connected devices, they continuously raise your monthly costs, and personally I'll never give Comcast another penny because fiber is so much better for my prewired home. But rest assured, the house is also wired for Cable TV providers.
We went to Value City furniture near Baltimore to look at current furniture trends before buying our house in TV. We figured we'd get ideas of what to look for, but we found out that Value City is a chain and is also named American Signature, with a store in Orlando. So we found some things we loved, waited for their Black Friday Sale and got what we wanted for 30% off....in Baltimore! Our Salesman let us know that he could set up delivery from the Orlando store, which we've never been to....yet. Our delivery from Orlando was free because we bought a mattress along with other furniture. We've looked at all the furniture stores in TV area, and Im sure you will as well. The prices are outrageously high. At Babette's on 441 we saw a bedroom set, close to, but not as perfect as our bedroom set.....but Babette's price was more than twice what our set was priced at before our 30% off sale price. And then they want you to wait months to get it??? Ridiculous. If you have a $100k budget for furnishing the house then you'll be good near TV, but otherwise do as the wise have stated....take your time, live in an empty house and contemplate each purchase of each piece, spend time going to each store, and shop way outside TV.

We purchased a leather sofa, coffee table, and end tables at Haverty's in the Southern Trace Mall on Hwy 466. Their customer service and delivery were spot on. Time will tell, but the quality of the furniture appears to be quite good.

Thats pretty much we are doing. We sold a lot of our furniture already and are basically bringing just a sofa tv and air mattress
I am a retired pastry chef and we bought a Charlotte with the larger kitchen. I think my biggest issue is finding room for all my kitchen toys. Haha.

Not sure what part of NC you are from. We are just outside Raleigh and they can t build fast enough for all the people moving here. Our house sold in 2 days 20k OVER our asking price with 6 offers. Even with high interest rates. Traffic is awful every where. They keep building but not improving the roads to handle it. Taxes keep getting raised..yes they are lower then Florida but there are more things for a happy life then paying lower taxes. Medical care has gone downhill as all the drs are getting bought out by the large hospital systems causing higher prices which is causing insurance companies battles. We have uhc and UNC which is about everyone refused to accept uhc insurance for a few months because they were disagreeing on prices. So be careful what you wish for. ...you may want to do research before moving back. When we decided it was time to move we looked all over the country and the villages beleive it or not just ticked a lot of our wants on our list.

Our house was built in 2021 so not sure how it's wired. We probably will wait till we move to decide and just use our tmobile home till we figure it out.
Furniture prices are nuts since the pandemic. We don't need much and may end up just ordering from Costco haha
Citrus Grove in a few blocks away so I guess we are in Citrus Grove. This is very new to us...we don't live in a "neighborhood " currently..we are still wrapping our heads around that we don't need our riding mower anymore!

Welcome to the Villages and to TOTV! This is a very exciting time for you, and you are going to love the area you are moving to. Sawgrass has so much to offer l- the show kitchen, villages grown market and meat market, boozey bingo on Mondays, pretty good pizza, Ezell, Southern Oaks, and near so many great walking trails. You’ll enjoy the high-energy vibe, and most residents in the area are hyper-active and social. Regarding furniture - I bought all my pieces on-line from Pottery Barn, but they also have a storefront at Millenia Mall in Orlando.

The pizza HERE sucks. Most people living in The Villages are northerners, and in fact there's a pretty significant New Jersey/New York/New England contingency here. We all attest to the fact that the pizza here sucks.
That's not the criteria to determine whether or not The Villages is a good place to live though. So it's possible that a person can be happy living here, where the pizza sucks. The attitude that's most harmful, is the one that says northerners who think the pizza here sucks, are bad influences, or somehow negatively affect the entire community.
I'd say the whole "you have a differing opinion and you're not afraid to express it" hatred is what negatively affects the entire community.
The houses and landscaping and yards and layouts of some areas in the Villages might all be interchangeable and conform into one nice neat perfect plastic photograph, but the people who live in them are as varied as the stars in the sky. That is a good thing, and people should celebrate those differences instead of complaining that they exist.
In short: the pizza here really does suck. AND the Villages has plenty of things to attract people from all over the world.
