To the person(s) that called community watch:
Next time, consider using common sense. Do you think a homeowner in the Villages would choose to place an overstuffed piece of furniture on their lawn for decoration? Before you pick up the phone to complain, please ask yourself if it may be out there for trash collection on the next day. Thank you!

First, it wasn't me.
Second. You just gave me a great idea for next Halloween. Bwaahahahaha! (That was supposed to be my evil laugh.)

If it was out at the curb and placed there the night before trash day, then yeah I'd agree - whoever called to complain should've waited to see if the trash people would take it before jumping to conclusions.
On the other hand, there's a home in our area where they've had a few things out on their lawn, near their house and not anywhere near their curb. One of the things looks like one of those butterfly chairs, but missing the cushions and set on its side. It's a few things that appear to have been lined up away from their back yard courtyard fence (which I'm pretty sure they're not supposed to have but it's covered with vines and looks pretty so I don't really care about it). If it's still there next week I might call. They're not my neighbors, so I don't feel comfortable walking up to their door and asking them if they need help moving the stuff to the curb or otherwise away from their lawn (I'd help them if they needed it). They live several streets away from me, but their property is on the way to the rec center and postal station, so I pass it every day.

Not sure who the whiner is in this situation.
Sounds like: No harm, No foul.

It appears that whiners make up about 75% of the Villagers.

Some people like to complain. As people get older they do not get better, they get worse.
Endless difference of opinion. I will bet for those who have a sport of complaining it is likely other Olympians can find issues with you.

Putting stuff out the day before, especially stuff that might have some value but isn't worth either selling outright or hauling to Goodwill, is a pretty common practice: there are folks who drive around TV looking for just such things. Sort of a cottage industry: I've seen the same truck cruising our Villages (assumedly) looking for such stuff several times. Discarded chairs are common. I've left everything from a used flat-screen TV to used Lanai furniture to a really ugly planter that was here when we bought the house. Not a bad deal: we help the locals and don't impose on the contracted trash collectors.

Or maybe 5% do 90% of the whining :-)

Agree, & the whiners make more noise than the quietly accepting folks.
