Is OptumRX open to the public or do you have to be a member of some insurance plan?

They are one of the big 3 prescription management companies. Two others are Express Scripts and CVS Caremark. Your health insurance company will use one of them to provide your prescriptions. Over the years I have not found much difference between the 3.

We live far far away from the villages. My wife works as assistant in a pharmacy, in a grocery store. For over a week, adjudication, and refill requests to clinics, and Rx from clinics were down. Adjudication resumed, but the other two have not, so they mostly are using fax. Adjudication is the electronic process where the pharmacy computers "talk" to insurance company computers, which tell the pharmacy if the insurance will pay for the Rx, and what the copay should be. Some pharmacies in the area are less impacted, but I doubt if any were completely unaffected. Sam"s Club and Costco both told me they were impacted. A link to find updates on the situation: (Change Healthcare is owned by Optum.)

Optum Solutions Status - Update: Some applications are experiencing connectivity issues. (https://status.changehealthcare.com/incidents/hqpjz25fn3n7)

I have used them for a few years now. I had a hard time getting started with them. The representatives I tried to speak with on the phone had trouble with english. Now I use non verbal communications and it has been going well.

In the news this week was an article that hackers had gone into United HealthCare (I think it was) and Optum and some other entities was affected. We used to use them until our Ins. changed---with not issues. We now have Express Scripts, also no issues.

Yes, they have been wonderful. They send email when it’s time to refill. Will call the doc without my prompt if refills have run out. They are very careful about using your correct address. We have 2 addresses and have never had a problem. They will call and send email to make sure I know my med has been delivered I am even ahead 2 bottles of meds because they will send the refill option so early.

We've used them for several years. The only issue I've ever had is that it seems a little like they do a bit of creep. That is, if you get a 90-day prescription (I've typically only done 90-day scrips with them), they start hitting you with texts and/or emails wanting to refill it after about 75 days. They say it's because there may always be delays in the supply chain (though I'm fortunate enough not to have had that happen) but after they've done this a few times in a row, it seems like you've barely opened the bottle with 90 days worth of pills in it and they're already trying to get you to fill the prescriptions again. Maybe I'm exagerating it in my mind. Other than that, I've never had a problem with a doctor not wanting to send the prescription to them or with them filling it.

They're OK, but if you do have a problem, you're in kind of a "nervous Limbo" until it gets straightened out. For some reason, (I forget why) I ended up using the term "prescription nazis" whenever I referred to them. I had Optum Rx for years, but my insurance now uses Walgreens and I find that they're good, and if there is a problem, it gets fixed quickly.

Recently called OptimRx to see if they could provide me with a specific generic brand. Although they could not guarantee which generic I would receive, the associate was friendly & very helpful. She informed me that Rx was free from Optum or from a local pharmacy, and recommended that I call around locally to see if one of the stores carried my brand. It was the preferred brand at CVS, and I received a 3 month supply from the store down the street. It would have been easier for the person on the phone to say no & then brush me off. Although Optimum did not fill my Rx, I was impressed by their customer service.

Right now, OptumRx & its parent company United Health, are on day 9 of a cyberattack. This doesn't affect whether they are a good company or not, but at the current moment it might be hard to fill a prescription.

Since last Thursday, United Healthcare of which Opyum RX falls under, has been breached by Blackcat ransomware.
They are working around it until they can resolve the problem.

I have used Optum RX for over 40 years. Auto refill option available is great! They will contact your Dr. if a new refill if prescription has no more refills.

Optum is great when it comes to ordering and delivery. As for pricing, OptumRX is roughly 5 times higher in cost per pill for 2 drugs I take. Scripts Pharmacy in Brownwood beats OptumRX every time. We found Scripts by dumb luck. It was our belief OptumRX was always the best deal, I learned they were not.

Well I guess if I complained about anything that would be my complaint. But I guess that would be better than always running out! Good point!
