Those of you out there who have installed a water softener or purification system, I am curious to know who you used and why and are you happy with your decision. I realize there has been past discussions on this topic regarding whether there is a need or not, buy I intend to get one from a reputable dealer (if one really exists). Thanks in advance to all.

We have a Puretronics and are very happy with it. Sorry I can't give you a source, but it is a water company in Bellview - wish I remembered more info about it. It does a great job and we are very happy with the quality of the output.

Villages water isn't bad. I don't feel you really need one. It is very expensive! We just buy bottled water and use filtered water out of the fridge.

G.E. whole house water filter from Home Depot, about $38, 2 pack of charcoal filter inserts, about $12. You can install it yourself if you like. I had mine installed for a total of just under $100, including whole house filter, filter inserts, labor and parts for the install. Works fine and the water tastes great.

I purchased in-line filters from Lowes for a nominal amount. Installed one on a dedicated drinking water tap and one on the ice maker line. That solved the taste problem although my spouse has no problem with Villages water.

go on line and look up Water Boss system and their web page will tell you all about them. You can buy them at Home Depot. I have one and love it. If you came from a city where the water ta`stes bad then the villages water is not to bad
