Paige Spiranac’s social media posts earn more than Scottie Scheffler’s (https://golfweek.usatoday.com/2024/03/18/paige-spiranac-social-media-posts-scottie-scheffler/)

"Spiranac averages around $8,477 to $12,716 per post when using a standard influencer calculation method, which factors in engagement rate per post, extras for the type of post, and additional considerations, culminating in the total rate. On the other hand, Scottie Scheffler, a notable figure in the PGA Golf tour and holding the highest Instagram follower count among his peers on the list with 625,622 followers, only garners an average of $2,000 to $3,000 per post using the same calculation method making Spiranac’s cost per post approximately four times more expensive."

So the only possible reason her posts get the hits is because she's attractive and he's a shlub? It isn't possible that her posts are more interesting and entertaining than his?

I don't know either of them but - most civilized people really DO look at the pages for the quality of the content, not the wrapping around the presentation.

I think the OP point was popularity in general as it relates to their competing SM posts. No doubt the PGA/LIV Tours trounce their female colleagues in the LPGA.

yup...you want to watch the LPGA....try the golf channel at 11pm....I have zero interest in watching women's golf, dominated by asians.
the American golfers have to get better, because you tour, and your livelihood depends on it ....the ladies have to go to Asia for 3-4 events, why? no sponsors. no sponsors means no tournament

Meaningless data without knowing how many posts each person makes. Neither the link, nor the follow up link to a betting site where the original info is given tell you. If Paige posts once a month and Scott posts once a day then he is making much more total income by posting even at a lower rate per post. Unlikely but it makes the math point clear.

Either way, Paige is a more successful media figure than a golfer and Scott is the opposite.

The advertising world is still in chaos, due to the meltdown of traditional media outlets, caused mostly by the internet, ad execs are looking for ways to spend their ad dollars (magazines used to soak up a lot of money, television even more, & so on). They are chasing after clicks with abandon. I expect it will settle down when they either realize it is working (bringing in more sales) or not. Or perhaps they will gain sophistication & figure out what works & what doesn't. Right now, the content suppliers & monitors who count the 'standard influencer calculation method...' have the upper hand. But some of the earlier comments have it right, one is more entertaining than the other, hence more clicks.

We have 2 Billboard sites on the primary access to the City of Boston, 2 miles outside the city. Prime location. Rental rates on those boards keeps going down, year after year.

With commuter traffic at a standstill, folks apparently aren't looking up to read the billboards, but looking down and "clicking" on their phones. :a20:

Clear Channel doesn’t ‘paper’ billboards anymore. All digital. So instead of having a crew set up a single image that’s sits there for a month at a time....digital ads can cycle thru multiple times, multiple advertisers....in less than a minute. Much like social media. You’re correct though, it’s now a lesser medium but it’s also a much cheaper one to advertise with.

Only partially true. All billboards in MA are regulated by 2 distinct entities. Outdoor Advertising & Signage (part of DOT) and the local city or town. There are locations where electronic boards are not allowed and all localities place limits on how many (or which) boards can be electronic vs fixed. The electronic boards are hugely expensive and the only way to amortize the costs, is to break the advertising up in smaller segments (which effects their rental potential).

Clear Channel is our tenant and one of our boards was their 1st ever electronic billboard in MA. They pay dearly for the privilege of having their signs on our property, two of only 12 approved locations in the city.

You have no idea.

Prior to purchase, we leased the property with an option to purchase. Our rent was $6000/month and we were able to renegotiate the Billboard lease ... their new rent was $8000/month. Some days you get lucky.

Just put out a free cheap yard sign on someone else’s property, right of way, or utility pole without permission and wait for the phone to ring.

I wonder WHY anyone PLAYS golf - you don't break a SWEAT even! Id rather jump rope for ten minutes than play 18 holes of golf - jump rope is better exercise. And what a waste of acreage. You could put 30 or 40 tennis courts inside the acreage for 9 holes of goof ( I mean golf). A game of 8-ball on a pool table is more fun than a game of golf. Ping pong takes more eye-hand coordination than golf (I mean the golf ball doesn't even move. It just sits there waiting to be hit. and equipment costs - compare the cost of golf equipment with ping-pong equipment.
..........And when a typical game of pick-up basketball is over, the players leave and go about their busy lives. Golfers go to the 19 hole and drink and complain and whine about their games until they turn into vegetables. And the only thing GOOD about Pickle's balls is that it is MORE athletic than GOLF. And at least the Pickle ball court does NOT require MASSIVE quantities of fertilizer , like golf, which runs off and pollutes the nearby lakes. Pickle ball and golf have at least one thing in common, when you strike the ball in BOTH so called games, you hear this pansy, pukey, very un-masculine........."click".

There you go folks, all you ever wanted to know about golf and most other folks.

The poster forgot to mention golf's contribution to Global Warming ... all that acreage of grass, pounding the CO2 into the air.

He also forgot to mention, without the golf courses in TV, the place would be under-water when it rained. No big deal, some folks thrive wearing a snorkel and fins. It's a big change from wearing the tin-foil on their heads.
