I had Xfinity until this year. I never had a problem with it. I believe I had the 75Mb service for about $65/month.
They raised their price a little plus started charging me for paying with a credit card. I looked around and decided to give T-Mobile 5G internet a try and this has worked well for me so far. Had Xfinity not messed around with my price I would still be with them today.

I have Xfinity internet, cable TV, Netflix, landline digital phone, and Xfinity Mobile cell phone service. My internet speed is 1.2GB. I just paid my bill with a credit card. I don't have any issues with them. The total charge for those services is about $270 per month.

You should've gotten in touch with them and renegotiated.
I'm paying $50/month for 300Mb serevice with Xfinity. Internet only, credit card payment. Same as I've been paying for 5 years, since I call them the month before my term is up and renegotiate the current "special offer." Which is always $50/month. That is with /no/ autopay, and /no/ modem rental. It'd be $40/month if I did autopay.

Not my style. I don't beg a company to treat me well; I look at how I'm treated and choose to stay or leave. In this case I left.
It all worked out for the better - I switched my phone service, took advantage of some promotions, got a higher internet speed, and am saving something like $800/year.

Depending on your Village, you might investigate the availability of Quantum Fiber Optic. 500 Mbps for $50. You could go to their website & check if it is available at your house.

We have it and it works out ok but slower than others but fast enough for us.
Also have TV with them and works ok but they keep raising their rates and refuse to negotiate so soon we will be former customers

Xfinity has many options. I just got their 1 gig service for $65 a month. Includes all taxes. Had to sign a 2 year contract for the discounts which includes auto pay. They debit my credit card automatically $65. No charge for using the credit card. FYI. It's up to 1 Gig download. I use a wifi router so my speeds are more like 700 mb.

When we had Xfinity in Minnesota, they had a monthly data cap useage charge. If you go over that data limit, you are charged extra. Check to see if Xfinity has a data cap in Florida. Spectrum and Frontier do not have data caps in Florida.

It’s funny reading some of these posts about negotiating with xfinity and paying $50 - $65 for slow speeds. Yes, 300Mb/500Mb are slower speeds. That’s not negotiating. When negotiating, you do a little homework on what’s out there and then you tell the company; if you don’t give me X for this much, I’m leaving you and going to Y.
I used to have xfinity with 1.2Gb speed (1200Mb) for $80 a month for almost 2 years. I’m an ex network guy and when I tried to do certain configurations on their router, things didn’t work and their tech support was blaming me for not doing it right. In the long run, I was right and they looked foolish.
I went with spectrum for a couple of reasons:
* spectrum uses a modem for their internet so I could use my mesh network routers. Much better than the 1 box xfinity
* I can configure the router the way I want it to be, no limitations
* I pay $39 for 1.2Gb (1200Mb).
So far, no issues, and my mesh network is far better than paying for the xfinity 1 box router/modem.
For the poster that pays $270 a month, that’s 2x for what you should be paying. For example, if you have spectrum, 1 cell phone service is free, another line is really cheap. Instead of getting a land line, get an Ooma device and I used to pay $3-$5 a month. Ooma is a voip device that comes with answering machine and other landline benefits. YouTube TV is $80 a month and Netflix is $5. All this would be in the $130-$140 per month for spectrum 1.2Gb service, tv, and cell. Right now I don’t use spectrum for the phones because I have 8 months left on a contract but I will be switching to spectrum after that.

???
- $25/month seems low compared to the numbers others have given
- 1.2TB of data sounds like their monthly cap, not their data rate

From the responses, I think I need to clarify my credit card comment.
From my first day on Xfinity I was receiving a $10 credit for autopay. They charged my credit card every month. Then, near the end of last year, they modified that to a $5 charge for autopay due to my payment method. If I changed payment methods to automatic withdrawal then I could keep the $10 but if I continued with credit card payment they would reduce the discount to only $5.
Reduce a discount or increase the price, either way I am paying more - Xfinity did both.
A $5 reduction in a discount is not much. Even with an additional $5 increase in price ($10 total) it is not much. However, making any change drew my attention to this service and caused me to look into what else was available. Had they left things alone they would still have a customer. They chose to make changes, I chose to make different changes.

I have been with Xfinity for 12 years, have had no problem.
I saved a lot of money, by cutting the cable, plus I have 5 TVs in the house, so I bought my own equipment instead renting theirs every month.
I'm not sure how other companies operate, but they're all the same, get you on the extras.
Online you can buy whatever you need.

Have Xfinity but no cable, we use streaming apps $145 a month ( plus Netflix cost , HBO cost, Amazon cost ) so basically $200 a month and still have a hard time finding anything good to watch 🤦🏼*♀️. The only issue I have with it the cost ! They sold us on the internet making things less expensive way back when …. I now pay way more for cellular than land line and 3x as much as basic cable was when we had that. Go figure.

Regarding Ooma, do you have any problems with call forwarding or having a voicemail message show up when you know you were present and the phone never rang in the house? We are ready to can Ooma and get a cheap cell phone line just to keep our local number in NC. Our Ooma fees are roughly $17 per month with taxes.

We've had them since 2021 and love them. We pay $124/mo. for their fastest available package...don't know the technical aspects but it is lightning-quick, and we run a desktop, two iPads and three TVs, plus grandkids accessing our wifi during visits. Never a slowdown. We also have their phone service: 2 iPhones at $30/mo. each, everything unlimited.
They do hiccup now and again. But the tech people at their store on 441 are pretty savvy and can tell you the steps to take to avoid a service call. Our modem had an annoying habit of jumping on- and off-line at random intervals. The guy at the store said it was 90% chance it was our modem: over 3 years old. I brought in the old one, he gave me a new one, I set it up and no problems since. Their service calls if they come to your house are $100 for the call plus parts, if any, replaced.

I use T-Mobile as well. The total bill is $120 a month for 2 phones (w/unlimited data) and home internet (also unlimited) which seems like a good value to me. We also use the T-Mobile checking accounts, no charges and they pay 4% interest on the first 3k in your account and 2.5% on any balance. I like that there are no BS fees or taxes and this has been my price for about 8 years, no changes and no fooling around.

After reading all these responses, If you can get off of cable and go to one of the fiber companies, do it. Otherwise, with cable, you are going to have to renegotiate every so often to keep your cost reasonable. Also, even with a "special" rate, when their content charges go up, they pass them onto their customers as they did recently. With fiber you get full bi-directional speeds and I very rarely ever hear of anyone having equipment problems. You can use their free equipment or your own and the system is incredibly reliable.

DON’T change…. The actual internet service is about the same but the Customer Service is light years apart. Comcast/Xfinity is horrible and Spectrum is actually pretty good for a cable company. You will be making a big mistake by switching.

Used Comcast first 2 years here and worked well. Switched to Spectrum now past 2 years, now in 3rd year and works fine. Very tired of Comcast increasing price and having to call and spend time getting them to reduce price….
That being said Comcast has very good deals for new customers and for returning customers after 3 or 6 (can’t remember which they told me) months.
Also we use wi-fi mesh here so have good coverage everywhere even out in birdcage and yard.

You know that Ooma requires that you actually HAVE an internet connection already. So you still have to pay for internet. If you don't want internet for anything other than your phone, you can get it as cheap as $20/month.
But if you already have internet service, you can use a myriad of VoiP services available for free through your computer. You just need a microphone and speakers or ear-buds. If you have a cell phone but no data plan, you can use whatever internet service your house has to connect with it, and use a VoiP app to use it like a normal cell phone. You just can't use it outside your house unless you're at an open wifi hub, like a store or restaurant.

We've had the Xfinity "fast plan" (download speeds: up to 500 Mbps, upload speeds: up to 20 Mbps) for almost 1 yr. My Wife and I both work from home, so we're using the internet during working hours. Service availability is extremely important to us and we've been very satisfied with the uptime. We also have multiple TVs that we stream content. Overall we're happy with the service and I like the automated notifications if an outage (i.e. power failure) is experienced. We signed up for paperless billing and autopay to lower our monthly cost.

In my area, Spectrum isn't available at all. Neither is Quantum, but its co-brand CenturyLink says I can get 3Mbps for $55 per month. Not much better than dial-up.
So I get the best that's available in my area, which is 300Mbps, for $50/month. I could pay more for less and be guaranteed that it won't go up. But then I'd be getting only 10% of the speed I get now.
I really only need 100Mbps but they kept bumping the speed up at no extra cost.
The reason you negotiate is because you agree to pay $50/month for a year, at which point their price may increase. It always does, you know this when you sign up for it in the first place. It's an expected inconvenience and takes less than an hour per year to deal with. This year it only took me 20 minutes, and I didn't have to threaten to leave. I got to the part of "my script" where I said "So, my year is up next month. You have a special coming up that's the same price as what I'm paying now. I'd like to lock into that please." And they said "no problem" and locked me into it.
So I'm good for another year.
Maybe it's not an optimal solution for people who have absolutely no patience for anything inconvenient in life. But as long as I'm making the call from the comfort of my own home, I can easily read a book while I'm on hold if it ends up taking an hour for someone to answer.

I have Xfinity and really like it. We maxed every option. Highest speed, all the channels available including the premiums, digital house phones, 4 TV’s. $340 monthly. We compared it to a recent Spectrum offer and comparing apples to apples having to add ala cart all the channels and premiums the Spectrum was $280…not enough savings to go through the hassle of changing from Xfinity to Spectrum.

Signed up with Xfinity before moving in. I liked it for over a year but months after they raised their prices to $80 I switched to Spectrum for a lot cheaper and like them too. You can choose to play the game finding cheaper companies each time the prices go up but I was fine with either of these services. The main things I like in an IP are less disconnects and decent speed and for what I do, a graphic designer work from home accessing a computer in Vegas I have very little issues and the very few that come up are easy to resolve. Downloads are the same for both IPs, fast enough without the max upgrade. Plus my router is almost 5 years old and though I plan to upgrade soon it's been fine.

Ooma is so much better than any other voip service. 20 years ago, you would use your computer to provide the voip service, but that’s old technology. Remember magic jack? Ooma is very clear, has all the functions of a land line. When I used it, I bought a package of wireless phones that hooked up to Ooma so I had a phone in all the bedrooms, living room, or any room you needed a phone.
You do need internet service, I did state it was a voip service, and voip doesn’t work with dsl.
If you can get fiber internet service, get it. Fiber is the best service you can get, even if you have to pay a little more. Most of the time fiber is actually cheaper than cable

Note that, with Xfinity cable, you don't need to stream anything through a modem or wifi. All content comes through a cable box. So, even if your internet service is down, you still have access to all content, including many streaming apps that can be accessed through the cable box. In fact, you don't even need internet service at all.

So -
Are you using a modem/router recommended to support those speeds?
How far is the modem/router from the device you're using to check your speed?
How many devices are connected at the same time?
For me, I have a laptop, two cell phones, a desktop computer, two TV sets, a tablet, and a photoprinter all connected at the same time and at one of those TVs is in use. The laptop is currently shut off and the printer is on, but not being used at the moment. The tablet runs 24/7 because I use it as my alarm clock on my nightstand. The modem can handle up to 500mbps and the router can receive signals from the entire inside of the house, the laundry shed, the lanai, the porch on the other side of the kitchen wall, and the area immediately outside my front door in the carport (but not the rest of the carport).
My current speedtest.net result is:
237.70mbps download
11.98mbps upload
Both the modem and the router are beside me at my desk, and the only things that aren't in this room are the two TVs and hubby's cell phone.

I have xfinity and have been happy with their service and reliability. In 2 1/2 years it has only gone down once for 4 hours. I pay $80 for 1.2 speed.
My only issue I had was with their modem and wifi signal. I couldn't get wifi in my lanai with the sliding glass doors closed and the modem was 10 feet away. Had a tech guy out twice and while it got better I was still having issues. The last time the tech said their modems were not very good and recommended getting a mesh wifi router. I bought a Deco mesh wifi router and that helped tremendously. I get a strong signal everywhere in the house and outside as well.

Xfinity is difficult company to get along with! Constantly looking for ways to increase your monthly charge.
Then they decided I was over data limits? 2 residents watching TV in the evening & checking e-mail nothing different than years previous. Wanted to switch me to unlimited for of course more money! No thanks & good bye!
Went with T-Mobile 5G home internet! Works great & happy to be rid of Xfinity!

This is exactly why I switched to Quantum Fiber. They could never fix the issue of my having to reboot my modem.

If you use Xfinity Internet, can you please let me know what you think of it I am currently using spectrum and I am thinking of changing thank you
I've used Xfinity for years now and find it extremely reliable ... although expensive. I never get dropped ... this afternoon I was playing cards online with other Villagers and one person kept getting notices that the Internet connection was unstable. Never happened to me with Xfinity. I think I had Spectrum eons ago and it was not good.

???
- $25/month seems low compared to the numbers others have given
- 1.2TB of data sounds like their monthly cap, not their data rate
I agree it is a great rate I fell into last June as a new customer. You’re correct it had a 1.2TB monthly data cap that I never come use to using. I use it for all the smart house stuff and streaming - no bw issues at all so I’m happy so far.

What's available in the Deluna Richmond area?
I believe you can only get Xfinity or Spectrum. No fiber was installed in these areas.
When people move into the newer areas they often forget to find out what utilities are available. We have friends in Richmond and no fiber was installed. I have no idea why this would be the case and it's very unfortunate for the people who live there. I think once the homes are built, fiber companies don't come in and install fiber in the community. The only place where this does happen is up north where Century Link is installed and only in some areas.
We also have friends in Dabney and there and the areas around Dabney you can get Centric Fiber which has prices similar to Quantum.

I had xfinity for nine years. Mostly reliable, but the advertised speed is much faster than the actual speed, and they kept raising the price willy-nilly. If you call and complain, after 45 minutes on hold, they might come up with a better promise at a better price, but the promise will be broken soon after, and the prices will rise again. I switched to T-mobile internet, cheaper, 3 to 100 times faster, depending on time of day and usage load, and so far reliable.

IMHO....DON'T DO IT! Xfinity internet consistently ran 5X slower than what we paid for (300MBPS). For those of you that have Xfinity, I suggest you search for and run Speed Test by Ookla...you will probably find out Xfinity is ripping you off. BTW, when you try to get then to correct it, get ready for NOTHING to happen!!!
Those speeds are when you are directly connected to the router. If you are running wireless or anything else, it will be slower. My speeds are as advertised.

I have Xfinity internet, cable TV, Netflix, landline digital phone, and Xfinity Mobile cell phone service. My internet speed is 1.2GB. I just paid my bill with a credit card. I don't have any issues with them. The total charge for those services is about $270 per month.
I have the same Xfinity package. It has been very reliable, really can’t complain. Just checked my bill, I pay $258.10.

My charges are as follows:
Internet (1.2GB), $72
Ultimate TV (similar to YouTubeTV), $51
Landline, $17
Netflix, $16
Equipment rental (2 cable boxes and modem), $35
Cell phone, $14
Fees and taxes, $65
Total, $270
Which items are absurd?
Wow!!!! You must be rich to pay that munch or poor because you pay that much.
I pay $30/month for unlimited fiber internet. $20/YEAR for 2 cell phones on a legacy plan which you cannot get anymore but you can keep it if you have it. And $0.00 for Google Voice. I'm not sure if anyone can still sign up for the free version of Google Voice. Check out the weblink for free television both streaming & OTA.

You are definitely not comparing apples to apples. I doubt that I would watch any of those free channels.
By the way, the fiber internet price for my area is $75 per month for 940 mbps. I have 1.2 Gb for $72 per month.

Everyone has their own priorities which is good.
We mostly watch Olando stations for local news/weather and general tv which some people with cable pay for. That along with free streaming is more than we have the time to watch. Most likely I will buy the streaming version of Avatar 2 as we have never seen.
You pay $270/mouth = $3,240/year.
We pay $30/month + $20/year = $380/year.
I will soon be updating the list of over 70 free tv stations I get using an antenna. The link also includes free & paid tv streaming.
