You know, all it takes is name recognition. Look at what happened in Minnesota - they elected Jesse "The Body" Ventura for governor and Al Franken as senator.

If that happened, there would probably be a television show of "Trump's Apprentice - The Vice President".:MOJE_whot:

By the way, IslandGal, I think your tagline about cat rescue is great. All the cats I had were pound kitties and they were all wonderful.

You're right, unfortunately for all of us. Am I hearing Stephen Sondheim's song, 'Send in the Clowns', playing softly in the background?

I hate to say this, but whom ever the republican voters pick to run against Obama I will support, there is no way I could ever vote for Obama or any other democrat.

I'd rather vote for Sarah Palin than Donald Trump.

I really hope that Newt "G" runs and wins. He is very smart and is qulified to be president. I'm afraid that if Trump or Palin runs, Obama will be reelected and that would be tragic for the country. IMHO

Trump will be the Second Coming of Ross Perot.

You say that Newt Gingrich is qualified to be President? Well, he is over 35 years old and is a natural citizen of the USA so he legally is qualified to be President.

Just go back to 1995 and remember what Gingrich did to the USA. He was Speaker of the House and did not allow the funding of the Federal Government to continue. This set forth furloughs for all non-essential employees of agencies that had not received budgets at that time. The furloughs lasted a total of 4 weeks. Employees did not know if they were going to get pay for that time. It ended up on Jan. 7, 1996, that employees were allowed to return to their jobs and all did get paid for that entire time period - which cost about $400 million.

Newt Gingrich resigned from Congress under a cloud of shame. This was due to many factors including his attempts at having Bill Clinton impeached. Americans were fed up with Gingrich.

Newt never could be elected President. Republicans are too smart to have him as their candidate. Palin is just as un-electable. Put in some Republican like Mitt Romney and they will have a good chance.

Name recognition is key. If Ronald Regan can get elected president, why not Trump? If Schwarzenegger can get elected Governor, why not Trump for President?

I'm not a fan of Donald Trump! But at least he brings economic skills to the table. We need a president who can focus on the economy, and Trump has proven himself to be a successful businessman.

I do not know that much about Romney but my guess is that he would be the least offensive candidate for the main stream media and my guess is he will lose just like John Mccain. JMO but the Republican has to be a conservative who will get our fiscal house in order. It appears Christie in NJ is doing a fine job and someone will need to do a similar thing for the entire country. The party is over with irresponsible spending by both parties.

Trump won't make it for the same reason Perot didn't. You can't just say "you're fired" to someone you don't like or decide you can't work with.

Even actors, like Ventura and Ahnold, had to learn 'people skills'.
