Few people will notice or care.
Very few.
IMO the only reason that CNN continued to draw breath for as long as it has, is the fact that virtually every major airport in the country with those big overhead TVs, have them tuned to CNN. You’re (thankfully) seeing fewer and fewer of them.

Personally I find the Certified News Network very enlightening as opposed to th the FAux News Network which had to pay a $897 million for its fake news regarding Dominion voting irregularities.

The only thing that saves CNN now is that fact that it's on cable, and thus gets shown in every airport and business lobby as the "middle" between MSNBC and Fox News. Which has not been true for 20 years.
You move it to a purely on-line platform, and worse yet, make people have to pay for it al a carte, then if further slides into obscurity.
The shame is, there is a place for a middle road, but the heads of CNN want to continue to be thought of as cool and get invited to all of the cocktail parties. Proving once again, that we never really leave 8th grade.

There is a place for straight news, but unfortunately, it doesn’t make money. It costs a lot to gather news all over the world. Unfortunately, it’s a financial loser, which is why opinion networks emerged. That being said, the price of cable went so high that millions cut the cord and many millions more will do so in the future. CNN has the biggest challenge because their ratings are the lowest. But MSNBC and Fox News are not far behind. Look at the average age of Fox News viewers. It’s an unsustainable business model. I think CNN will be sold. Warner Brothers Discovery can’t afford a losing business entity. But MSNBC and Fox News have challenges in the future as well if the current trajectory continues.

I don't think that analysis is accurate, CNN paid airport authorities for exclusive right to run its content on monitors throughout the airport. It was a business deal. Nothing to do with being 'middle'. Look up CNN Airport it was a closed circuit channel, & in the beginning its 24 hour content was a selling point.

I don’t watch any news anymore. All they do is report on their opinion. It gets pretty boring to hear that night after night. Gone are the days when networks didn’t require the news to be a moneymaker.

My dad has CNN running from the moment he wakes up til he goes to sleep, except to watch Jeopardy and Wheel of Fortune. I can't stand it, it's always [BREAKING] even though it's just opinions of hired "personalities" who discuss news from two days ago, or continue a tirade against this that or the other thing.
To me it's not much better than Newsmax, Breitbart, or MSNBC.
If I want to read about actual news I usually check with Reuters or Associated Press, and I check with CSPAN for live government streaming every so often. If I want to see something live that isn't something going on in the government, ABC and CBS usually have a stream going online.
I don't watch normal TV at all.

They ran CNN into the ground. It would be still around if the executives had placed a higher priority on profits than indoctrination.
It used to be a very good network that was palatable to viewers across the political spectrum. My favorite anchor was Bernard Shaw. They also had great shows like Crossfire which I watched all the time.

Well said. Yes I liked Crossfire as well.
We watch FOX now, but when CNN was more middle of the road we would watch it as well. They had some good shows where they actually hit the issues from both sides. Now they have gone as left as MSNBC, and become just a Trump hate channel.
We're not huge Trump fans, but the bias at CNN is so obvious. It's a sinking ship.

I used to like Christianne Amanpour. When she tried to explain away the complete shutting down of the Hunter laptop story by saying, “we follow the facts”, she became just another lefty talking head doing tribal opinion pieces. Sometime it’s important to see what’s NOT being covered.
I still watch CNN in very small doses just to see what opinion they are promoting, but I take all their reporting, along with all regular network news and Fox with a grain of salt.
NPR has also been in the headlines as Uri Berliner confirmed the open secret that they are anything but impartial.
I’ve become a fan of Fox over the past several years, although I recognize their bias to the right. Despite a few well publicized issues, I think they are the best at telling it like it is.

Same matter with Print Media. In the 'old days' (1990's) my go-to was CNN and USA Today newspaper. NEWS. CNN, typically excellent reporting, especially international. USA Today, a generally concise and interesting sections. Perfect when traveling, in hotel room or airplane.
Now - both have gone far L. I do check USA Today online and so slanted. But I'm one to attempt to get different views.
I'm getting old. I wish for the 'old days'. Current events simply scare the heck out of me. Domestically and internationally.

It's weird to me, that people spend hour after hour in front of Fox "News" or CNN. Just listening to actors, doing their lines...... I think it's really bad for the country and foments a lot of unrest all the way to violence. What happened to just watching local news and 6 and world news at 6:30, on OTA channels? Why fill your head with opinion news for hours..... I don't get it.

Because thats what people want.
After the 2020 election Fox News started to distance themselves from the absurd election deniers. What they found out real quickly is thier audience simply shifted to Newsmax or the others that told them what they really wanted to hear… Despite it being true or not. Fox quickly returned to what their base audience wanted to hear.
It's just like the feeds you see on your phone or computer. They all know if they tell you something you want to hear you will stay engaged and that's what it's really all about. It doesn't make a difference whether it's true or not

First of all, if your source is The New York Post, your post is suspect. The issue of cable news networks switching to streaming services is old news - middle of 2023. The greatest fiction in the news media today is about the “mainstream media” and how liberal it is. That notion is a pure myth, but it plays like David vs. Goliath situation, and so it is perpetuated.
Fox News is as much a part of the mainstream media as any other. It’s been around for almost 30 years, and has led cable ratings for over 20 consecutive years. Their audience is roughly equal to, and in some years bigger than, CNN and MSNBC combined. Fox News is the cable news Goliath, not vice-versa. And while much smaller, Newmax and OAN are out there for those who are even farther to the right of Sean Hannity and Jesse Watters.
Add to that the dominance of online media (Fox News, Breitbart, Epoch Times, Daily Caller, Washington Examiner, and many others). The left does not approach this in online unique visitors.
The place where conservative media absolutely dominates is talk radio. Rush Limbaugh was the king while he was living, but talk radio is still dominated by the right. There are many right wing talk radio programs, but you would be hard pressed to find any on the left at all.
And then you have podcasts, again dominated by conservatives starting with Joe Rogan. The left has some, but they are not in the same league.
The one part of the media that is totally dominated by the left is the newspapers. But readership continues to plummet and hundreds of newspapers close each year.
I am not putting this post up to take sides. I recognize a right or left bias when I see or hear it and most of the media is not straight down the middle. But the notion that conservatives are the little guy fighting this gigantic left wing mainstream media is false. Conservative media is bigger in totality, make far higher profits, and they are certainly just as much a part of the “mainstream media” as all other media.
Some may not believe this, but ask yourself how DJT media’s new stock, even after the price decline, values his media organization at $4 billion even though they reported revenue of only $4 million last year and lost tens of millions of dollars.

There's a reason for those ratings disparities...
For the longest time, only FOX leaned a certain way, while EVERYBODY ELSE leaned the other way. There was a plethora of choices.
Of course it made sense that Fox's ratings were much higher... It was the only game in town for many, many people...

I'm curious. Where do you put NPR?

There are many disinfectants such as hydrogen peroxide and alcohol to name a couple. But the media had to latch on to bleach as though it was the only one. They're either totally ignorant or completely biased.
Regardless of what kind of disinfectant - you wouldn't INJECT it into your body. That was the thing they latched on to. Bleach, peroxide (which is a type of bleach), isopropyl alcohol, grain alcohol, ammonia - it doesn't matter. You don't fill a hypodermic syringe with the stuff and inject it into your body. For a president to even SUGGEST that someone study the possibility shows ignorance of just basic common sense.

It doesn't make a difference whether it's true or not
It will destroy the country...... people sitting home getting riled up, being frightened all day long of imagined boogeymen, shooting people who knock on their door. I met a lady, in TV, who told me she's afraid to go places.... in TV!!! It's not healthy to have it on all day.

Very few.
IMO the only reason that CNN continued to draw breath for as long as it has, is the fact that virtually every major airport in the country with those big overhead TVs, have them tuned to CNN. You’re (thankfully) seeing fewer and fewer of them.
Well some of us prefer that to having FOX shoved in our faces and ears everywhere we go around here.

Fox is #1 rated and can afford a big law suit hit. #1 means they must be doing something right. I do believe cnn rated the lowest would have to close up shop if they were hit with any type of law suit like that. I do not watch either.
And why did they have a lawsuit to begin with? It's ok with you that they can afford to pay a fine because so many watch them spout lies?

You do realize that that has been thoroughly debunked, haven't you?
Yes, all the "real" (cough) news outlets immediately jumped on that bandwagon. But they were all wrong.
The UV light comment was factually correct. It has been used in lung infections for some time.
And he NEVER said to inject bleach. Period, Full Stop.
He is on video suggesting injecting a disinfectant.

I think it is fine to talk about the Fox news lawsuit, but without mentioning the successful suit by Nick Sandman against CNN, the Washington Post, & NBC & all of the other outlets that have been sued i.e., Rolling Stone, ABC, Gannet, the New York Times, & CBS is a trifle disingenous.

So, I will reply to that and defend CNN. I watch them and find that while, yes, they are biased, they will present both sides. I have also heard them criticize Biden and the White House. Michael Smerconish is very informative and fair. Unfortunately, those that watch the "other" network, do not seem to be open to the truth. They still believe the election was stolen and defend the biggest con artist ever.

CNN has the worst ratings whereas Fox News has the best ratings. CNN has paid the airports tens of millions of $$$ every year to play their fake news to a captured audience. I’m surprised cnn is still in business

CNN has justifiably been circling the drain for a few years for their false and highly edited narratives that distort the news. They clearly consider their mission as shaping public opinion, not reporting the facts.
CNN has been so horribly one sided for so long reporting only what justifies their opinions. No wonder they are going out of business. Good riddance. I can think for myself thank you.

The greatest fiction in the news media today is about the “mainstream media” and how liberal it is. That notion is a pure myth
You must be joking. TV MSM is ABC, CBS, NBC and Fox. Other than Fox, the rest are extremely tilted left. NBC in particular.
And then you have podcasts, again dominated by conservatives starting with Joe Rogan. The left has some, but they are not in the same league.
This is part of the problem. Anything that is not extreme left is considered right by the left. Joe Rogan considers himself a liberal and voted for Biden in 2020. I'll bet some of the other podcasters you think are on the right actually consider themselves centrist or liberal, like Tim Pool.
I recognize a right or left bias when I see or hear it I don't think you do. See above.
But the notion that conservatives are the little guy fighting this gigantic left wing mainstream media is false. Conservative media is bigger in totality, make far higher profits, and they are certainly just as much a part of the “mainstream media” as all other media.
Fox may have the highest ratings, but 'in totality' the other 3 networks have much higher combined viewership, so the premise that the leftwing MSM is larger is actually true.

Always amazed at folks that complain about Fox News/conservatism down here.
You chose to move here, knowing that it was a more conservative area, with many retired/ex military, police, and fire fighters.
But you didn't move to places like southern CA, which arguably has much better weather. Cooler temps, less humidity. Why might that be?
That's right. Those place have been ruined by the policies you vote for. So you leave your fouled nests and come to Florida because it is more conservative with low taxes and support for law and order. Hypocrites. Live under the laws and policies you support and vote for, and quit trying to change the state and governance we love. I, and many others, will help you pack. And Uhauls are cheap to CA, as there are so many leaving, and Uhaul needs someone to bring them back.
