If you have to smoke, clean up your cigarette and cigar butts, don’t leave them on the golf courses. I’m sure those people that do that are the same ones that flip them out of their cars too. It’s litter and is very unsightly.

Cigarettes, yes.
Cigars, maybe.
It sounds funny & maybe gross, but most cigars are all natural...all leaf
vs.
Cig's with paper, filters, etc.
"Though you may not know it, basically all cigars are –– in fact –– biodegradable! That's because cigars are comprised entirely of natural materials, i.e., tobacco leaves bundled together. This is different than cigarettes and other tobacco products, most of which are wrapped in a non-biodegradable substance like paper.Apr 25, 2023"
Both unsightly.

This is more a statement on ignorance than smoking. I've been around hospital campuses, as an example, most of which have no smoking policies anywhere on property. Yet you go by an employee entrance and you see tons of cigarette butts scattered around the landscape. Not to pick on tobacco users but ignorance isn't confined to their membership. Anywhere USA you'll find nips lining the roadside along with Poland Spring water bottles etc. There's no one segment of society that fears the practice. Because archaic ordinances are...ding ding ding, never enforced. Again, I'm no tree hugger but that kind of blind disrespect to neighbors and communities in general....makes me long for the Singapore model of....caning!

Mine all go into the left rear pocket of my pants/shorts.
If anyone would like to see my washing machine lint filter for proof and verification, I'm more than happy to provide a photo.
There's no excuse, bio-degradable or not.

Must be too young, most of older can’t see them. While on subject of golfers Don’t throw little liquor bottles or beer cans out on MMP it’s unsightly. :D

CTACK! A perfect hit. Your ball is flying farther than ever before. Straight for the pin. One long bounce onto the green and rolling straight for the hole! You are going to ace a par four hole. Everyone in your group is cheering! Then your ball hits a still smoldering stogie and your ball stops. The idiot who left the cigar button is still there. You have your gun which you carry in case of a gator attack.
Go ahead. You know you want to. Just drag the body into the tall bushes next to the gator pond. And fix the divot where he fell. 😙🤫😇

People are funny.
My other house is in the foothills of east Tennessee, I think its one of the prettiest place on earth, that's why I settled there. I have lived in many other places in the US and this is by far the worst for litter. The locals (I'm sure some transplants too) dump trash in huge quantities, some dump it in their yard next to their house, some in roadside ditches and some in schools or businesses. For the life of me I can't figure out what the thinking is, everywhere you came from and everywhere you are going has a trash can. The garbage truck runs once a week. Every car has a cubby that can hold the trash until you get where you're going, just amazing.
There are 52 inoperable cars sitting in various yards in the last mile of the trip to my driveway from town. Some have been there long enough to rot into the ground, some stopped running in the past few months and I fear they will sit there and rot like the others are.
I understand that a banana peel or a cigar butt will biodegrade in short order but how about we let that happen in the designated spot rather than where everyone else has to look at it. It doesn't take much effort to keep things looking nice.

You are right, it doesn't take much effort to keep things looking nice. But, some folks won't make any effort.

Took me back about six decades, remembering how much more common it was back then to see folks throw fast food trash out of their car windows. Now I'm wondering if I remembered wrong about Lady Bird Johnson and her effect on that issue. Was that limited to billboards? Don’t you wonder if the thoughtless smokers throw those nasty butts in their own lawns and streets?
They must have grown up with their mamas cleaning up their messes since they do t seem to care about the messes they leave behind. Those butts do not disintegrate or decompose.

I don't know if that is an excuse for the slobs. I once saw someone in a parking lot take the ashtray out of the car & dump all the butts onto the asphalt of the parking lot, then put his nice empty ashtray back into the car & drive off, leaving a pile of butts behind.

Nice post...
As a dog owner I always "take home" my dog's "leftovers" as you said "bio-degradable" or not.
I do not put them in my pants though. LOL. You are severely more committed to recyling than my wife and I are!
Kudos to you for being a responsible smoker...
Don't you hate it when irresponsible others leave us with a bad (though somewhat deserved..) reputation?

It’s a nasty habit, but of all the things golfers do to disrespect the courses, it’s not on the top of the list. Putting through non fixed ball marks, sun flower seed shells, pistachio nut shells, and people that drag their golf shoes across the greens are a few examples of even worse offenders. Eventually, the nasty habit might very well catch up with them in a very unenviable way. Golf on : )

Been here about three times as long..........seen a few of each, not a big problem.
Much better here in TV than the rest of the USA. :eclipsee_gold_cup:
Like Top said, bigger issues are racking, spikes, ball marks, slow play, etc.

I don't think one issue is any bigger than another. Trash is trash and if you brought it you should take it with you. If you make ball marks, walk in the sand trap, etc, fix it. If you have no respect for the course, at least show a little self respect and clean up your mess.

Thought the cigar was dog poop until I took a closer look. This was just off the golf course though. My pooch was not interested in peeing on the spent stogie.
Nor had he been interested in the occasional spent condom. Which would often be by a few empty liquor bottles. Those would be of the few ounce variety.
