It has been almost a year since we have purchased a new Savannah Series courtyard villa. When we closed on the unit we noticed a constant banging of both bathroom vents as a result of the wind outside. We of course brought this to the builder's attention and he advised that this is a result of the new Sumter County code wherein the vents are placed in a different location as opposed to units built earlier.
He said that they have had over 200 complaints on this particular issue and that they are trying to do a fix. After a month or so we called Home Warranty and heard the same story.
To date we have not heard from anyone and when we return to our villa later this month we will again pursue the problem. Are their any Forum members having the same issue or heard about it?

Yes, this has been discussed before.
Here is a link to the beginning of that thread

The solutions discussed were to remove the flapper or place a small weight on it.

Has anyone who has this problem has complained to Sumter County elected officials? If they changed the building code in a way that negatively affects homeowners, maybe they could/would change it back if they knew there were hundreds of complaints about it.
The previous thread was "noisy vent fan" in the DIY forum.
