Watched the roast last night and it was the best comedy I’ve seen on Television in longer than I can remember. Even if you’re not a football fan, it’s worth watching. Watching it was a wake up call reminder of how funny comedy used to be before Woke and Political correctness put a gag order on the comedy industry. And whether or not one likes TB12, you gotta give him credit for putting himself in a position where he knowingly was going to get totally abused.

Tom excels in every thing he does including taking abuse lol, one line that I loved went something like if you sleep and eat well ,film your opponents practices , deflate footballs , you to can someday become the third most famous person in a Dunkin’ Donuts ad .And a shoutout to Drew Bledsoe you have always been a classy guy

Tom Brady got paid $30,000,000 to put up with that.

I thought the comedy was excellent, other than the host. Even Bill Belichick was his usual humorous self (he's not really funny, he's a db in person).

Bledsoe, Belichick and Nikki Glaser were amazing. I would not want to be Brady picking his kids up at Bridget or Gisele’ house!

Chump change for him, doesn’t even cover his Bitcoin losses.

Personally, we both hate the WOKE stuff. They ruin almost anything. One needs to watch what and how they say something, or... Worse with our young.

Will watch the Roast soon. Brady had been my idol for many years, lived in Boston area for most of his years playing there. Then down here when he was with Tampa Bay.

Remember the Dean Martin Roasts on TV back when? Archie Bunker. Mash. Jeffersons. I could go on... the good ole' days.

Agree.
Its been generations since a comedy roast has commanded the news cycles. They nailed it and Brady and Netflix deserve whatever they made off of it

I'm halfway through it, and I have to agree with you and disagree with the OP about it being the funniest humor since woke.

There were so many good comedians down through the years who could be funny without flinging F-bombs, JC's, and genital jokes. Jackie Gleason, Jack Benny, the rest in that era, up to Dick van Dyke, Mary Tyler More, Bob Newhart, Johnny Carson, Carol Burnett, Tim Conway and the rest of that crew, and others like Steve Allen and Chevy Chase. Those people were truly funny without being crude.

In contrast, other than Kim Kardashian, Ron Burgundy, and Bilichick (so far, I'm only halfway), the rest of them had to resort to trash to make a joke.

Kevin Hart is just bad. But maybe his is the way of comedy these days and I'm behind the times. But I remember former roasts that were more intelligently, legitimately funny.
So call me an old biddy. But there's a difference between funny and being crass. The audience seemed to like most of it, though. I will watch the rest this weekend.
Just my opinion that I'm entitled to give. By the audience's reaction, I figure I'm in the minority. Maybe this audience is too young to remember what good humor was.

So.....you’re definitely entitled to your opinion. If we’re comparing eras (which I hate to do), I would agree that the Dean Martin roast series was/is the gold standard. Don Rickles gave a master class every time he took to the dais and nobody was safe. You would agree that his style of comedy was very taboo for that era as well...to some? Again, not to me. IMO, this roast (TB 12)...is representative of what this generation (Boomer, X,Y and Z) was starving for. Unfiltered, unedited and live. Comedy for you may be different because you grew up in a different time....just like your taste in music may differ as well. As you say, you’re entitled to your opinions, likes/dislikes and so is everybody else. Just like in those days, you had a choice to watch it or change the channel. I give you credit for at least attempting to work your way through it....as three hours is a bit of a commitment (Martin roasts were pretty drawn out too). It wasn’t flawless.Yours is a fair critique, I respect it....we just disagree.

Totally agree. I watched 30 minutes and turned it off. I pride myself in having a great sense of humor, and am not easy offended at all, but I thought it was crude, classless, and I didn't think it was all that funny.

Then you most definitely don’t want to watch any of the older Denis Leary, Ron White, or Lisa Lampanelli types of rude, crude, and socially unacceptable stand up comedy acts. Unfortunately, unless you have the DVD/VCR recordings of those shows, they can no longer be found (canceled) on cable or streaming.

Lisa Lampanelli (Queen of Mean) was so much better than Jeff Ross in her prime. She wasn’t really cxl....she took herself out of the game. As did one of my favorites, Nick Dipaolo....a monster. Politics has tried to kill this type of comedy...but it’s still standing (thanks to the streaming services)

I saw it live. It wasn’t til I watched it again that I noticed that. Disappointing. The whole idea was it was live and ‘unfiltered’. It was 3 hours and change live.....the edited version, about the same (minus that dubbing). So clearly not for time restraints! Apparently the Kardashian’s have some pull....

From the sounds of it, seems like some people on here have never seen a comedy roast before. They're supposed to be low-brow humor, vulgar, and over the top.

They still have them all available streaming mostly on Apple and Netflix.

Jealous Cowboys fan still living in the past when they were “Americas Team”. Just as we learned in New England post Brady, no great run lasts forever (but it sure was one hell of a long and epic ride while it lasted).

You remember Jeff Ross roasting Emmitt Smith and Shaq in ‘08 I believe. On the Cowboys; “Jerry Jones....you need to get back to what got you to the top before......crack and whores”! (paraphrasing)
